CONVICTION VS. PREFERENCE   (Part 3, the end)

Gibbs’ most requested sermon (edited by Sharon Cromwell)

THE ULTIMATE TEST OF CONVICTION

Sometimes people do not exactly tell the truth, so the court further evaluates alleged convictions after someone passes the other preference tests.  The court reserves for itself the right to examine every area of an individual’s life from vocation to recreation, searching for consistency or inconsistency in light of the individual’s convictions.

*  A conviction always shows up in a person’s lifestyle, so the court can easily evaluate our convictions by examining our lives for consistency. The Word of God says that faith without works is dead.  It is meaningless.  We get our convictions from the Word of God.  Disobedience to what God has ordered is the classic definition of sin.  When you state a conviction, be prepared to say that its opposite is a sin.  Answer all questions truthfully.

*  Life & Lip:  A conviction is consistent to itself.  The court says that consistent practice means reasonably consistent, not perfect. However, one judge said, “I would like you to see if we could match up the two L’s - (1) Life and (2) Lip.” A good part of every court case is about whether what you say with your mouth is consistently being practiced with your life.

*Your convictions will be challenged in court.  Is it your conviction that pornography should not be viewed and obscenity should not be spoken?  These are convictions to us, because the Bible requires it. It is a sin to do otherwise.  Some have been asked if they owned a television.  Then they were asked if they ever saw or heard obscenity, cursing or swearing, or if they saw any nudity.  They will examine all areas of your life, including the use of your finances and time, checking consistency. You cannot hide from this scrutiny, which will determine if what you say you believe is what you truly do believe.  The greatest tragedy is not the inconsistency before the court, but the insult before Christ.

Few have a commitment to Christ Jesus that will stand up to the serious examination of this world. The first New Testament believers were willing to die for their beliefs, and their accusers could find no fault or inconsistency in them. Perhaps we should place ourselves on trial.  Do we really believe what we say we believe?  Whether or not you are ever brought to a courtroom and put on trial by men, you are on trial every day before your God. He demands holy living and consistency of life, not just in word. Anyone can say he believes in certain things, but as a child of God we ought to live like it. God help us.

QUIT?    NEVER!  by Sharon Cromwell, newsletter staff

Job 4:1 says, “Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.”  We will all face difficult situations, but if you choose to sit down, the devil will take away your joy.

Instead, get a hold of 1 Peter 1:3-9!   “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.  Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:  That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:  Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:  Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.”

Because of sin Israel became captives.  Psalm 137:1 says, “By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down. . . .”  God has promised to forgive when we repent, so don’t sit down and quit.  All who live godly are promised persecution (see 2 Timothy 3:12).  Don’t get depressed.  Encourage yourself in the Lord like David did.  1 Samuel 30:6 says, “And David was greatly distressed . . . but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.”

Elijah called fire down from heaven, and the prophets of Baal were slain.  Because of this, the people turned back to God.  Immediately Jezebel threatened his life, so Elijah went into the wilderness and sat down under a juniper tree.  Elijah said 1 Kings 19:14, “. . . I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts . . . and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.”  God encouraged him that thousands still served Him.

When the Israelites heard that the giants of Canaan made them look like grasshoppers in comparison, they doubted God.  They had already crossed the Red Sea on dry land, ate and drank by supernatural means, and were being led by a cloud by day and a fire by night, but they doubted God for victory over giants.  Hebrews 3:19 says, “So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.”

The devil balloons things to impossible proportions, but God wants your faith in Him to pop the devil’s balloon!  His hot air has malicious intent, but if you pop it by the grace and power of God, the devil lost that battle.  The devil wants you to think he has won, but God promised you the victory!  You have whipped the devil before, and you can do it again.  Don’t give up.  God is still God.

DID YOU EVER  by Sharon Cromwell, newsletter staff

Feel an icy stare?  Melt it with a warm smile.  Bump into a dark mind?  Bring it the Light of the world - Jesus.  Meet up with a numb soul?  A soul on fire for God is contagious and can ignite another.  Sense a lonely soul?  Share the plan of salvation and the fellowship of Christ.  Receive persecution or a cold shoulder?  Jesus said to pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you.  Refuse offense.  Puzzle people with your reactions, and extend the opportunity for abundant life Jesus gives!

January 2010 News

Cyber threat  OneNewsNow.com

Some have said that legislation proposed in April 2009 is necessary to guarantee  commerce flowing freely in the U.S. and globally.   OneNewsNow says, “It would also streamline the government’s cybersecurity efforts and establish a clearinghouse for threat and vulnerability information.”  However, the American Center for Liberty & Justice (ACLJ) questions the call for the president’s new authority to “declare a cybersecurity emergency”.  The ACLJ says it would “grant the federal government virtually complete control over all electronic communication.”  Some fear something similar to Iran’s political suppression in 2009 when a media blackout was compulsory.  If we cannot communicate using technology, some more freedom has been removed.

Parental Rights Are Ignored   WorldNetDaily.com, CitizenLink.com

An Education Code allows a student to be excused from instruction “if any part of a school's instruction in health conflicts with the religious training and beliefs of a parent or guardian of a pupil.”  However, in December, a California judge denied parents the opt-out right for their small children.  They wanted them excused from a compulsory pro-homosexual curriculum.  A petition with over 450 signatures from disapproving persons was submitted.  An appeal is planned.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Myanmar & Rats     assistnews.net

Myanmar has been called the “Rice Bowl of the East”, but a certain bamboo plant that blooms about every 50 years has drawn rats that have wiped out 75 to 82 percent of its crops.  Heavy rat infiltration has caused famine and illnesses.  Please pray God will save, heal, and deliver these people.

Canada     ChristianPost.com

Pastor Stephen Boissoin was charged with a hate crime in 2002, and the case went on for seven years.  A Canadian judge has now overturned a 2008 verdict against Pastor Boissoin, and he has been exonerated.  His harassment has been used by conservatives as an example of what could occur if the U.S. had a hate crimes bill.  The U.S. passed a hate crimes bill in October 2009.

Pray - for boldness of Christians.  We must not be intimidated or silenced.  Jesus is coming and we don’t want blood on our hands.  Pray that God will overcome our judges and other rulers over us with His presence, that they will be saved and judge righteous judgment.  Pray for the persecuted church.  Pray for unity and maturity in the body of Christ.  Remember that Colossians 2:10 says, “And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:”

Two Words - Jesus Christ  by Sharon Cromwell, newsletter staff

Source:  GospelHerald.net & peterheck.com

These two words are so powerful that they make some heads pop up and others drop.  I recently read an article about how these two words affected some who did not want Bible verses in emails using a university email system.  The writer noted that no other source could raise such a conflict in a non-believer!

Christians must not give in to the demands of liberals who want to ban the holy name of Jesus entirely.  Jesus was hated so violently that His opponents killed Him.  He told us in John 15:18, “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.”  Jesus tells us that we will be persecuted.  Verse 21 tells us why:  “But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.”

We must shine the gospel of Jesus Christ so souls will come to know God.  Very recently Times Square Church in New York City put up ads saying “God is” on 1,000 subway cars and 50 platforms in Manhattan stations.  According to GospelHerald.net, Senior Pastor Carter Conlon explained, “We are praying that people who don't know God, and would like to know Him, would be moved by these ads . . . and find God through the forgiveness freely offered through His Son, Jesus Christ.”

The secular world declares that everyone should be tolerant and open-minded, but when a public figure opens their mouth and adheres to righteousness as outlined in the Bible, God’s Holy Word, and mentions the name Jesus Christ, the world will suddenly forsake their own professed tolerance!

Peter Heck, radio host of WIOU in Indiana says that liberals are responding hysterically nowadays to “. . . public demonstrations of the Christian faith. . . .”  He says the “. . . two most intimidating words imaginable. . . .” are – Jesus Christ.

Mr. Heck says liberals categorize Christianity along with “. . . other world religions: a set of traditions, customs, and practices. . . .” and they think religion should be separate from the rest of life!  They don’t have what I have!

Mr. Heck says, “Christianity . . . is a total surrender and a complete worldview change.  It alters not just your actions and words, but your very thinking.  It is a recognition of the sovereignty of Christ, and therefore an acknowledgement that all things – political, social, cultural included – come under His final authority.”

Matthew 28:18 says, “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”  No wonder some consider the name of Jesus Christ intimidating!

TOO POOR TO GIVE? by Sharon Cromwell, newsletter staff

Source: TPE, “Homeless Church” by Dave Bohon

There are 14,000 plus homeless people in San Francisco, California.  I read an article about how a pastor and his wife moved into a school bus and worked among some of them.  A young woman asked permission of this pastor to come and at least raise prayer support for her missionary trip to the poor in a foreign country.  The homeless congregation gave $19 the first Sunday and the next Sunday $72. Most of the offering came from selling aluminum cans.  They support her missionary work monthly now.

Men and women with no means of support and who daily struggle for food gave what they could, because when God touches your heart, it changes your perspective.  It makes giving “worth” something to you, and not because you get something back.  For some, giving is a sacrifice.

Dave Bohon, author of Homeless Church, said, “To Evan, [Pastor of the Homeless Church] the steps of faith his congregation has taken to be a part of missions present a huge challenge to conventional churches everywhere.”  When people feel they have become a part of something, and God breaks their heart for the need of another, giving is not done grudgingly, but joyfully and heartily.

Death in America Christian Law Association (CLA), christianlaw.org

Federalized Euthanasia - Severe cuts in Medicare programs will likely result in the promotion of euthanasia by decreasing health care for elderly and disabled people.  According to the Christian Law Association, these people are at risk from any government controlled health system with “death panels”.

Abortion – Days after our president took office, he “. . . released a statement supporting legalized abortion in all fifty states.  The following day he signed an executive order lifting a ban on overseas abortion funding,” according to CLA.

Radio American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ) and Christian Law Association (CLA), christianlaw.org

The American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ) tells us that Fairness Doctrine supporters have changed their name from “Fairness” to “localism” and “diversity”.  ACLJ says, “Under the new regime, you are obligated to broadcast issues programs . . . .”  Opposing viewpoints would be required.  Localism requires radio programs to broadcast a certain percentage of government and election news.  The Christian Law Association’s view of this is that it will be, “. . . unmanageable, costly, and frustrating for broadcasters.”  A new FCC adviser is, “. . . calling for the death of free, over-the-air broadcasting,” according to one representative.

Eliminate Beliefs? WorldNetDaily.com

Canada is an example of how hate crimes laws are used to curb moral opposition to homosexuality.  The new Quebec Policy Against Homophobia will allow their government to eliminate, “. . . all forms of "homophobia" and "heterosexism" – including the belief that homosexuality is immoral – from society as a whole,” according to World Net Daily (WND).  The policy is a plan to “target the various locations in which homophobic attitudes and behavior patterns, as well as heterosexist stereotypes, are found.”  It warns that they will deal with “the heterosexist values on which some institutional practices are founded,” even though churches were not mentioned.   Drew Zahn of WND says, “The progression from “hate crime” legislation to outlawing “hate propaganda” to now enlisting the government’s power in socially normalizing homosexuality is the very process decried by many Americans, as the United States also begins passing the first of such laws.”

911 Mosque?  WorldNetDaily.com

According to Chelsea Schilling of World Net Daily (WND), “A new Islamic mosque will open its doors just steps from Ground Zero where Muslim terrorists murdered 2,751 people in the name of Allah on September 11, 2001. . . .”  Let’s wake up!

Interpol   OneNewsNow.com

In 2009 President Obama signed an executive order allowing an international law enforcement agency to have jurisdiction in the United States without being subject to the U.S. Constitution.  Chad Groening of One News Now says, “In June 1983, President Ronald Reagan signed Executive Order 12425, recognizing the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) as an international organization with certain privileges and immunities afforded to diplomats. But Reagan structured his executive order to ensure that Interpol . . . was accountable to the rule of law.” The new order launches Interpol as a self-governing international police force in the U.S.

MARCH

DEPARTMENT OF PEACE  by Sharon Cromwell, newsletter staff

Source: Jan Markell of Olive Tree Ministries, Inc. www.olivetreeviews.org

Matthew 24:6 says, “And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled. . . .”  All of Matthew, Chapter 24, tells of the end time.  There will be wars until the end of the earth, and true peace only comes from God.  In John 14:27 Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

In these last days the Bible says in Daniel 8:25 that the antichrist, “. . . by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.”  Isaiah 9:6 calls Jesus The Prince of Peace!  The antichrist will come against His peace with the devil’s counterfeit peace.  The devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus gives abundant life, as He destroys the works of the devil (see John 10:10 and 1 John 3:8.)

Jan Markell of Olive Tree Ministries says that many who promote bill HR808 (which would create a U.S. Department of Peace) believe, “if you don't believe God is in everyone you are working against world peace.”  Yet, they are working to have peace without Jehovah GOD.   Markell states that at least 288 House members have expressed approval for this bill, and it is expected to pass unless enough people speak up.

Markell says some communists, “. . . whose ideology has killed tens of millions, are now all about peace.” She says, “But who is the unofficial ambassador for all of this? Famous “New Ager” Marianne Williamson. . . .”  A sample of what she believes is found in her Course of Miracles in which she says, “The journey to the cross should be the last useless journey.”

The Bible says without the cross of Jesus and the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins (see Hebrews 9:22).  That is the peace Jesus gives, reconciling us to God.  Reconciled to God, we can obtain all the promises in His Word.  That brings peace of mind and abundant life.  In John 14:6 Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Nothing of human invention, not even a Department of Peace, will bring paradise.  1 Thessalonians 5:3 speaks of the coming of the Lord and says, “For when they shall say peace and safety, then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.”

Do as I SAY - Not as I DO?

People, and especially young people, do not put much stock in idle words.  Notice your own actions and reactions to events this week.  Consider what your children are learning from you.  Will they see Christ-like characteristics in you?  Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

On judgment day we shall give account of our works, but also every idle word we have spoken.

Playtime OR Divination?

Source:  Jan Markell, www.olivetreeviews.org

Children and adults have seen the paranormal on TV and many now consider it normal.  Some toy stores sell Ouija boards, and now they come in pink and some glow in the dark.  These are advertised for eight year olds!  THESE ARE SORCERY OBJECTS and divination, not toys.

The Bible reproaches witchcraft, divination, and sorcery.  Deuteronomy 18:9-12 says, “When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.  There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.  For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD. . . .”

Jan Markell of Olive Tree Ministries told about her personal experience with an Ouija board when she was 23.  She says she was addicted to it, and was so good at it that, “. . . the glass object could move with no hands on it.”  Jan said, “The glass object that spelled out words would often spin around the board in a frenzy, and it was always talking about dark, evil things. All predictions were negative.  When I asked the board where it got its power, it spelled S-A-T-A-N.”

As a teenager Jan knew about the Lord, but one night at age 23 she felt an evil presence.  She said, “I seriously repented, took the board and glass object out to a bonfire and forever said good-bye to its evil. That was in accordance with Acts 19 which says that those who practiced magic gathered up their instruments and burned them.”

Jan says, “. . . the glass object was profane, cursed God, and sometimes flew off the board in a rage. Evil spirits were present to be sure.”  She indicated that it is NOT just another game, and said, “This is playing with FIRE.”

Jan has told her experience to warn others of the danger of playing with the devil’s toys.

HATE CRIMES?  by Sharon Cromwell, newsletter staff, sources listed

LHF does not issue a blanket endorsement for the policies, beliefs or statements of our news sources.

Silencing Christian Speech OneNewsNow.com

A mayor in California has expressed regret for saying that Lancaster was “growing a Christian community,” recently in front of an assembly of pastors.  A Human Relations Task force says they will not seek charges against him.  The Task Force chairman said the apology was helpful, but the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) filed a federal complaint.  Attorney Brad Dacus of the Pacific Justice Institute says, “With the hate-crimes bill in place, this is probably just one example of many to come of attempts to try to silence people of faith.”  He says we must “aggressively” ensure these people “. . .  and their rights are protected against this kind of outrageous intimidation and silencing.”

Cross placed at Pagan Site  foxnews.com

In Colorado Springs, Colorado, a cross made of railroad ties was found next to a rock at a pagan worship area at an Air Force academy in January this year.  A man who does pagan worship there claims he is a victim of a hate crime.

Religious Freedom  CitizenLink.com & OneNewsNow.com

In California a youth pastor was arrested for witnessing at a mall.  According to Focus on the Family, criminal charges were dropped.  A staff attorney for Pacific Justice Institute says the mall has a rule that you can only talk about sensitive topics with people you know.   That means no proselytizing, no witnessing.

Suit over Hate Crimes Law

WorldNetDaily.com , OneNewsNow.com, & cnsnews.com

A federal “Hate Crimes” law was enacted Oct. 28, 2009.  According to Susan Jones, Senior Editor of CNS news says, “A conservative civil liberties group is challenging the constitutionality of the recently enacted federal Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009.”  The lawsuit was filed, “. . . on behalf of three pastors and the president of the American Family Association of Michigan,” she says.

Richard Thompson, president and chief counsel of the Thomas More Law Center, says, “The sole purpose of this law is to criminalize the Bible and use the threat of federal prosecutions and long jail sentences to silence Christians from expressing their Biblically-based religious belief that homosexual conduct is a sin.  It elevates those persons who engage in deviant sexual behaviors, including pedophiles, to a special protected class of persons as a matter of federal law and policy.”  The Law Center states that of the 1.38 million violent crimes in the U.S. reported by the FBI in 2008, only 243 were considered to be motivated by the victim’s sexual orientation.

According to Susan Jones, “The lawsuit alleges that the new law violates the plaintiffs’ rights to freedom of speech, expressive association, and free exercise of religion protected by the First Amendment, and it violates the equal protection guarantee of the Fifth Amendment.  The lawsuit also alleges that Congress lacked authority to enact the legislation under the Tenth Amendment and the Commerce Clause of the United States Constitution.”

According to an article by Focus on the Family, the Hate Crimes law violates civil rights.  The lawsuit makes clear that because of the Hate Crimes Act, “. . . plaintiffs are targets for government scrutiny, questioning, investigation, surveillance, and other adverse law enforcement actions and thus seek judicial reassurance that they can freely participate in their speech and related religious activities without being investigated or prosecuted by the government or becoming part of official records because of their Christian beliefs.”

APRIL

LHF FAMILY CENTER - Update!

On Wednesday, March 8, 2010 we restarted the construction of our Family Center and School.  So far as we can determine, partial operation of this facility will begin with our new school year this August.  We are very excited about our new facility and all of the opportunities it will afford us to minister in a broader based way.  Affiliated churches will be joining us to work toward revival in our land.  Many years ago the Lord spoke to me that we must be a “house of refuge” to all that would hear God’s truth.  By God’s grace, we press toward that mark. We covet everyone’s prayers.  We have various fund raising events slated for this year, and everyone will find something of interest that will go toward this work. Please stand with us!  Many forces are out to destroy the Word of the Lord in our land, but we will not compromise that which is our only hope, for Christ is our everything.  Thank you for your prayers and support.

God bless,

Pastor Kevin Badgley

Wisdom Bit, by Sharon Cromwell, newsletter staff

I heard a story about a man who quit going to church.  In a short while the pastor paid him a visit.  No one spoke as they sat in front of the lit fireplace. After a few minutes the pastor carefully removed a live coal with tongs and set it by itself on the hearth.  It didn’t last long.  Then he returned it to the fire, and it relit.  As he left the man thanked the pastor for the “fiery” sermon, and told him they were coming back to church.  The devil will try to isolate you for any reason he can, because there is strength in the fellowship of the saints of God.  Together, let’s destroy the work of the enemy.

COMMON PEOPLE,  by Sharon Cromwell, newsletter staff

Mark 12:37 tells us that Jesus was teaching and the common people heard him gladly.  Common means “ordinary”, the opposite of rare.  In the same chapter He spoke of religious hypocrites and gave examples.

Romans 12:16 says, “. . . Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.”  To condescend means to “humble yourself, lower yourself”.

I talked to a pre-teen girl recently who said the “IN” crowd did not like her.  True disciples of Jesus Christ follow Him, regardless of popularity.  Jesus said in Matthew 11:29, “. . . learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”

Pride and selfishness must be put away from us.  2 Corinthians 5:20 tells us that we are ambassadors for Christ, and it is important that we follow Jesus in attitude, compassion, and in deed

1 Peter 5:5 says, “. . . Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”

Recently Pastor Kevin sent this note to our Internet Family in an E-newsletter:

Greetings in the mighty name of Jesus.

As most of you know, I have been praying about traveling into other nations to preach this gospel of the Kingdom of God.

Recently an open door was shown in an area near Puebla, Mexico.  I was able to accompany a dear brother in the Lord, Tony Xelhua, to “spy out the land” there.  We were able to make inroads to such an extent that a church plant there is possible. We covet your prayers for this endeavor.  We have watched in prayer about every open door that God brings.  This is surely His way for us to go and be as productive as possible.

As concerning other lands, God will surely have this work come to them, but the fruit must be ready and laborers willing, prayerful, and obedient to God’s vision.

I earnestly covet your prayers for our ministry.  Five countries in Africa, the Philippines, China, India, and Pakistan are requesting that we come to their land to share the gospel of signs following and holiness of life.  The needs are great, but God shall supply all our need according to His riches in glory.

We are currently building up our base of operations here for both local and national outreach.  Transition has begun; we must be ready for every stage of operation.  Your continued prayers for us will help us to be fit for every good work and bring us to you in Christ all the sooner.

I have a word for you today from God concerning your life and ministry; it is found in Isaiah Chapter 65, Verses 23-24:  “They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.  And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.”

Let us go forward trusting in God – let us go now!

 In His service,

Pastor Kevin Badgley

Please pray with us as we seek God’s perfect will in these matters.

Iran Info from Strategic Assessment-Institute for National Security Studies & Daily Alert

According to the Daily Alert, Iran will have bombs this year.  “If this rate continues and if we take into account the LEU reserves Iran already has, which is more than enough for the first core, by the second half of 2010 Iran will have enough LEU for enrichment to HEU for two cores, and by 2012 - for three.”

 A Teacher’s Signs  WorldNetDaily.com

A teacher named Johnson, who celebrated God in our history with signs in his classroom, was required to remove them after they’d been there 17 years.  Other teachers were permitted to hang Buddhist, Islamic and Tibetan messages in their classrooms.  A federal judge has ruled in the teacher’s favor.  The judge declared, “May a school district censor a high school teacher's expression because it refers to Judeo-Christian views, while allowing other teachers to express views on a number of controversial subjects, including religion and anti-religion? ... On undisputed evidence, this court holds that it may not.”  The judge also said, “It is a matter of historical fact that our institutions and government actors have in past and present times given place to a supreme God.”  The school district was ordered to allow Johnson to rehang the signs immediately.

Death and condemnation to a church that is not yearning after the Spirit, and crying and groaning until the Spirit has wrought mightily in their midst.  He is here:  He has never gone back since He descended at Pentecost.  He is often grieved and vexed, for He is peculiarly jealous and sensitive, and the one sin never forgiven has to do with His beloved Person; therefore, let us be very tender towards Him, walk humbly before Him, wait on Him very earnestly, and resolve that there should be nothing knowingly continued which would prevent His working in our midst.  Brethren, if we do not have the Spirit of God, it were better to shut the churches, to nail up the doors, to put a blank cross on them and say:  “God have mercy on us!”  If you ministers have not the Spirit of God, you had better not preach, and you people had better stay at home.

SAVED SCARCELY or SAVED TO THE UTTERMOST?

by Sharon Cromwell, newsletter staff, Source:  R. W. Schambach

Hebrews 7:25 says, “Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.”

1 Peter 4:18 says, “And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?”

Jesus is the Captain of our salvation.  Luke 17:21 says the kingdom of God is within you, so let the Holy Ghost reign in you.

Evangelist R. W. Schambach says, “But the devil does not want that kingdom advanced.  He will try to claim every bit of territory he can.  But remember, he is a defeated foe!  Every time he tries to set his foot in any of that kingdom, stand up and say, “Hold it, Slewfoot!  You cannot operate here.  This is God’s Kingdom!”  He says, “We must set and secure the boundaries of this Kingdom.”

God has given us the keys to the kingdom and we are supposed to be using them.  Matthew 16:19 says, “And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

Are you scarcely saved, or are you strong enough to advance the kingdom of God?  If the devil has already taken territory from you, get back what he stole from you.  Luke 10:19 says that God has given us power over All the power of the enemy.

Do battle (2 Corinthians 10:4-5), confront the enemy, and regain ground!  Brother Schambach says, “The fight is not over.  The battle is not lost.  Recoup your strength, get a dose of glory from the Holy Ghost splashed on your face, and get ready for victory!”

NET WORKING

by Sharon Cromwell, newsletter staff

“Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.” (John 21:3-6)

John 21:3 says, “Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.”  Seven disciples got together and went fishing, but they caught nothing.  Many times we gather with other Christians, without lost souls coming to God.

John 21:4 says, “But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.”  In the morning, Jesus came.  Jesus, the Son of God, is “the bright and morning star” (Revelation 22:16).  It was morning, but the disciples did not know it was Jesus standing there.

John 21:5 says, “Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.”

In John 4:32 Jesus said, “. . . I have meat to eat that ye know not of.”  John 4:34-35 says, “Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.  Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.”

John 21:6 says, “And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.”

Are you fishing?  We have to fish the RIGHT/correct way, God’s way, by His instruction.  Let God speak to you, and then obey Him.  Are you witnessing?  Are you winning souls to the kingdom of God?

Mend your nets.  The nets catch the fish (souls for the kingdom of God).  Luke 5:10 says, “. . . Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.

These were experienced fishermen, but until Jesus talked to them, and they obeyed, they caught nothing!  Pray, fast, heed the Word of God.

1 Peter 1:22 says, “Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:”  Read Mark 11:25, Ephesians 4:2, Ephesians 6:9, and Colossians 3:13.

Unity is required in fishermen working with a net if there is to be success.  Read Psalm 133:1, Ephesians 4:3, Ephesians 4:13.

Seek God till HE directs your path.  John 16:13 says, “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”  Read Acts 16:10.

Jesus provided their food even as they were out fishing (see John 21:9).  Obey what the Lord tells you to do, and He will take care of you Himself.  WE cannot save souls, but as we follow Jesus in all things, God does the impossible.

Mark 10:27 says, “And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.”

Worth MORE than a Million  OneNewsNow.com

A federal judge has ordered 8,000 million-dollar-bill gospel tracts be returned to a Christian ministry.  Secret Service agents confiscated them, claiming it was because of a counterfeiting law.  The tract producer, evangelist Ray Comfort, founder of Living Waters Publications, says, “There are a lot of crimes, and there’s murder and there's terrorism, and instead, [they’re] running after people giving out gospel tracts.  But other people laugh, and everybody knows they’re not real. A 167-word gospel presentation on the back is a clue that it's not government-issued.”

Christian Jailed  Living Waters Weekly Update

Shawn Holes spoke the truth to some young people who pressed him for answers about homosexuality in Glasgow Scotland.  Consequently, he was put in jail.  An article in Living Waters Weekly Update says this, “I have a thought that may be helpful when it comes to the issue of homosexuality. If someone in a crowd taunts you as to what the Bible says about homosexuality, pass him a Bible and ask him to read 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 out loud to the crowd. I wonder how the police would handle that one. All he did was what you would have done-read the Bible out loud. It would be an interesting precedent.”

Criminal Conviction for Homeschooling  LifeSiteNews.com

Home schooling is prohibited in Brazil, which became a socialist regime in the 1990s.  The Nunes, a Brazilian couple, refused to put their children in the government’s school.  Fines of $3,200 were put on them.  Home schooling is often associated with high academic achievement levels, and forced government testing revealed that the children were eligible for law school at the ages of 13 and 14.  Nunes told LifeSiteNews (LSN).  "If they impose tests it means that two possibilities should be considered.  They could be suffering intellectual abandonment, or not.  In other words, they were trying to prove they were victims. But they passed and they kept saying we were criminal.  They want to take control of them, of their minds.”  Mr. Nune paid his wife’s fine so she won’t go to jail, but he says he is not going to pay his own fine.

Spain’s Schools  alliancedefensefund.org

In Spain, parents are suing over Anti-Christian classes that are also sexually explicit.  The Alliance Defense Fund and Professionals for Ethics has filed a lawsuit against enforced anti-Christian instruction for public and private Spanish school students.  Over 50,000 parents have sought to remove their children, but without success.  “The state shouldn’t usurp the right of parents to raise children according to their beliefs. Forcing students to participate in values training contrary to their convictions is a violation of basic human rights,” says ADF Legal Counsel Roger Kiska, who is based in Europe. “It is not the government’s role to dictate what private and public school students should believe by imposing anti-religious views and advocating sexual libertinism, homosexual behavior, and abortion.”

Proposed Burqa Ban  Daily Alert, 04/02/10

A Brussels, parliamentary committee voted unanimously to prohibit the use of veils that cover the face in public, saying it creates security issues and threatens democratic principles. If made law, Belgium will be the first European country to do this.  ~

SUBMISSION, by Rebecca Flores-Perez, Newsletter staff

James 4:7 says, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”  Some people think submission is giving up and admitting defeat, but for the Christian, submission to God is necessary.

We need a Savior!  Without submission to the Spirit of God, we continue to make our own decisions, which usually get us into trouble.  Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Pride and rebellion got Lucifer thrown out of heaven.  James 4:6 says, “. . . God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”  It takes submission to the Savior to be able to have our names written in the book of life. Without giving our will to God, we cannot have eternal life.  It is imperative that we learn NOW how to submit before it is too late!

Source: Peter Heck - Guest Columnist, OneNewsNow.com

Peter Heck, guest columnist for OneNewsNow.com, says it is appalling to live in a country where, “. . . there are still those who are so backwards in their thinking and so void of moral conscience that they can actually advocate a supposed right to dismember infants in the womb.”  Heck says, “Scientifically, medically, constitutionally, morally and ethically, the case for abortion rights is so intellectually bankrupt it is a national embarrassment. . . .”

The Bible speaks of sacrificing children.  Leviticus 20:5 tells us what God thinks of that.  It says, “Then I will set my face against that man, and against his family, and will cut him off. . . .”  It is not God’s will or His thinking to sacrifice children.  Jeremiah 32:35 says, “And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.”

Heck says the media refuses to, “. . . acknowledge how barbaric one's mindset must be to – in this enlightened age – still believe in the savage ritual of human sacrifice.”  According to Heck, the abortion group has never been about choice, or privacy, or personal liberty, but about a, “. . . macabre obsession with advancing a legal right to kill kids for convenience.”

HEAVEN, Fact Sheet

by Sharon Cromwell, newsletter staff   Source:  King James Version Bible

Who?  Who made heaven?  Isaiah 45:18 says, “For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.”

What?  Heaven is, according to Webster’s II New Riverside Dictionary, “The realm of God, the angels, and the blessed souls of the dead.”

When?  Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”

Where?  Where is heaven?  According to Pastor David Wilkerson’s message on heaven, “The Hebrew scholars of Paul’s day taught there were three layers of heavens:  first, the physical atmosphere we inhabit; then the second heaven, where the stars are; and, finally, the third heaven, where God and paradise are.”

Why?  Colossians 1:16 says, “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:”  Revelation 4:11 says, “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created

all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

How can we get thereMatthew 19:16 says, “And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?  In Verse 17 Jesus said, “. . . if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.”        Luke 9:23 says, “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”

Our employment commissioner says, “I'm having a hard time coming up with any case in which religious liberty should win.”  We got this information from AFA Action Alert April 12, 2010!  Our legislators are again trying to pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which takes away much of our freedom of religion, freedom of speech and freedom of association.  ENDA prohibits workplace "discrimination" on the basis of "sexual orientation or gender identity."  According to Tim Wildmon, President of the American Family Association (AFA), “"sexual orientation" is not defined in the bill, it will give special legal protections to 30 sexual orientations listed by the American Psychiatric Association, including pedophilia, prostitution, bestiality and cross-dressing, to name just a few.”  AFA urges you to politely but firmly let your lawmakers hear that you (and / or your business / association) oppose ENDA.

New Law Slows Down Abortion   Chick Tract email

In Oklahoma abortionists are running for lawyers.  Unltrasounds allow us to watch a baby suck his thumb or shy away from danger.  According to an article by Chick Tracts, “The law requires that every woman who requests an abortion be offered a view of her baby on an ultrasound screen and be given a detailed description of it. Abortion clinics are reporting that mothers dissolved into tears during the ultrasound.”  Some would not watch the screen.  Abortionists say it is “just a blob of tissue”, not a BABY.  However, a Planned Parenthood director quit after seeing an “unborn baby crumple as it was being vacuumed out of the womb,” says the article.

The CROSS – REAL Love    by Sharon Cromwell, newsletter staff

When we get saved we are convicted of our sins, we repent, and God lifts the heavy burden of guilt.  His joy fills us as we realize we are no longer going to hell.  We are saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus’ atoning death on Calvary’s cross.

In Luke 9:23 Jesus, “. . . said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”  Self denial is part of YOUR cross.  Jesus had opportunity to come down from the cross.  They jeered at Him saying He saved others but could not save Himself!  He could have prayed to the Father, and He would have given Him more than twelve legions of angels to help him - before He went to the cross.  Jesus prayed through and made the decision to follow God 100%.  Jesus atoned for the sins of the whole world (see 1 John 2:2).  Whosoever will, may repent and have eternal life (see Mark 1:15).

In John 10:15 Jesus said, “. . . I lay down my life for the sheep.”  After Jesus rose from the dead He asked Peter three times if he loved Him.  Then he said to Peter, “Feed my sheep.”  Jesus died for us on the cross.  He wants us to get on our cross and die to our selfishness.  1 Peter 4:2 says that a Christian, “. . . no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.”

Many of us like Peter tell God we will do it – we will lay down our lives for His sake (see John 13:37-38), but also like Peter we have denied Him at times.  However, after Peter got the Holy Ghost, God used him mightily (see Acts 1:8).  John 3:16 says God loves us so much that He gave His Son to die for us.  1 John 3:16 says, “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”

HOW?  Ephesians 6:18 says, “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”

You want more LOVE?  Get the Holy Ghost and let God’s living water flow through you to others.  Romans 5:5 says, “. . . the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”  God’s pure love is unselfish.  It will satisfy your heart as you let God use you to bless others, showing them God is real (see Isaiah 43:12).  John 13:35 says, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”

Miserable people like to gripe, and they always have something negative to say.  There is never enough or there is always too much.  They are never satisfied.  They try to justify themselves, thinking it is ok to destroy those around them.

Matthew 12:36 says, “But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.”  Next time you are in a “bad mood” watch your words, for we are judged thereby!

Bald Knob Cross Associated Press, Illinois Country Living, CBSNews.com & OneNewsNow.com

Last month’s issue informed you about the legal battles of a seven-foot cross in California that was restored and then stolen.  Now, (only about thirty miles from LHF) another CROSS is being threatened.  Located southwest of Carbondale, Illinois, Bald Knob Mountain rises 1,034 feet above sea level and overlooks Shawnee Forest.  The Bald Knob Cross itself is 111 feet tall.  Easter services have been held there since 1937.  The founders were a rural mail carrier, a preacher, and a “pig lady” named Myrta Clutts.  Myrta’s piglet contributions amounted to about $30,000 toward the cross.  Work began in 1959 and was completed in 1963.  When illuminated, it can be seen for 7,500 square miles.  After many years, the founders passed on and no one maintained the cross.  Volunteers have raised funds to restore the cross.  However, an atheist has complained about $20,000 of state grant money that is helping restore the 47-year-old cross.  Renovation is expected to be concluded this summer.  Pray that it will remain where it is.

 Our Children  One News Now

If the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child is enforced, parents' rights to raise their child is taken away and given to the government. Pediatrician Rosemary Stein of Burlington, North Carolina says, “The government becomes the caretaker and the guardian, and the parent becomes the babysitter. Another way to define it would be “‘the government takeover of our children.’” The Christian Medical Association (CMA) says it is dangerous for the family.  Charlie Butts of One News Now says, “It is not known when the U.S. Senate will try to ratify the treaty, so Dr. Stein says people need to start contacting their senators to voice their views.”

Blood Supply in Danger  OneNewsNow.com

For 27 years men who have had sex with men have been prevented from donating blood by the federal Food and Drug Administration.  Some are trying to lift that ban.  Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality, says, “The CDC itself has reported that gay men have an HIV rate 44 times that of other men and a syphilis rate that's 46 times higher than other men. So, obviously, there are very severe dangers, and we need to put the public health first and foremost in these deliberations.”

  ANCHORING YOUR FAITH

DECEITFULNESS

by Rebecca Perez, newsletter staff

Ever heard this?  "Oh what a tangled web we weave when we practice to deceive!"  If we paid attention to good advice, we wouldn’t have to learn many lessons the hard way.  Sometimes God lets us weave our own web of deceit.  This is not only because He will not cross our will, but because He loves us enough to teach us right from wrong, however long it takes.  God is long suffering.  Deceitfulness comes in many shapes, forms, and sizes.  You can deceive others, and you can deceive YOURSELF.  When we let unbelief in our hearts, we automatically deceive ourselves by leaning on our own understanding.  This is sin according to Romans 8:7 - “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.”  Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”

John 5:30 says, “I can of mine own self do nothing. .. .”  However, Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.  Mark 4:35-41 tells how the disciples got into the boat with Jesus.  He told them they were going to the other side.  When the storm came up, they forgot about the other side, and they forgot WHO was in the boat with them!  Well, they DID make it to the other side, because in Matthew 28:18 Jesus said, “. . . All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”  In Luke 10:19 He said, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”  Jesus promised in Matthew 16:18, “. . . I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

NOT INTIMIDATED

by Sharon Cromwell, newsletter staff

Source:  R. W. Schambac

Jesus said, “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world,” in John 16:33.  God never intends for His children to be overcome by the devil.  Romans 8:37 says, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”

Evangelist R. W. Schambach says, “The devil uses many devices, including the tool of intimidation.  He will intimidate you into defeat, if possible.”

Leviticus 26:8 says, “Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall by the sword before you.”  SO WHY AREN’T WE PRAYING TOGETHER?  Exodus 15:3 says, “The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.”  We have to wage spiritual war against the Devil (see 2 Corinthians 10:4-5).

Only the anointing power of God will put the devil on the run.  Isaiah 10:27 says, “. . . and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.”

The devil will roar, and people will threaten you.  The devil’s strategy is intimidation, but God tells us to fear not because the battle is the Lord’s (see 1 Samuel 17:47.  IF you have NO FEAR and you HAVE FAITH, you can run like David did toward the giant.

When Goliath threatened him, by words and just by the sight of him, David was prepared, and he defeated the enemy!

Fasting and prayer and studying God’s Word is required.  Jude 1:20-21 says, “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.”

Matthew 28:20 says, “. . . I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen

“Euthanasia is legal in Belgium under a doctor's supervision and the patient's consent,” according to CBN News.  However, more than 100 nurses in Brussels, Belgium have helped assisted suicide illegally, according to the Canadian Medical Association Journal.  Dr. Peter Saunders, Director of the pro-life group Care Not Killing, said, “Once you have legalized voluntary euthanasia, involuntary euthanasia will inevitably follow.”

No Bible for Charter School

Mike Butts, Idaho Press-Tribun

According to Mike Butts of Idaho Press-Tribune says, “The Idaho Public Charter School Commission told the Nampa Classical Academy (NCA) Friday it can't use the Bible as an instructional text.”  NCA had not planned to use the Bible to teach religion, but as a primary source for instruction, but the Idaho Constitution limits use of religious texts

Islam in America?  OneNewsNow

One News Now says that radical Islamic groups have gotten bold and, “. . . are openly holding conferences on U.S. soil calling for the establishment of a global Islamic empire.  Robert Knight, a senior writer for Coral Ridge Ministries, says about our president, “He's sent many signals that Islam is on the rise in America and that he's fine with it,” Knight says.  “. . . they feel so emboldened that they can hold public conferences and proclaim the fall of capitalism and the rise of Islam.”  Knight says Islamic groups don’t fear the mainstream media or the presidential administration

Christians' arrest  OneNewsNo

Some in America want to hush up Christians who disagree with Islam.  On June 18, 2010 four missionaries were arrested while passing out leaflets at an Arab festival in Dearborn, Michigan, USA.  They were charged with disturbing the peace, although one was peacefully conversing with Muslim youths while the others videotaped as they were arrested.  Dearborn has a large Muslim population. Robert Muise of the Thomas More Law Center (MLC) is representing them.  He says, “If people are offended by the fact that they were preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to Muslims and trying to convert Muslims -- well, guess what, we have a First Amendment.  This is a free society. It's not a police state.”  The Law Center is planning a civil suit against the city.  TMLC’s President Thompson says that free-speech rights were violated, and they broke no criminal laws.  He says, “The next step, in what I call the enforcement of sharia law in Dearborn, Michigan, is the arraignment that is going to take place in the Dearborn District Court.”  Thompson also says, “This is the first step in a series of steps that the city of Dearborn is taking to placate the large Moslem population that they have there, and they don't mind stepping on the constitutional rights of Christians to do that.”

Court against Christians  OneNewsNow

According to One News Now, A recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling, “. . . upheld the right of a public university to enforce an antidiscrimination policy against a student group affiliated with the Christian Legal Society.”  They have disallowed the Christian student group at the University of California's Hastings College of the Law to require applicants to sign a statement of faith in return for membership.  Candi Cushman with Focus on the Family says, “What this is really about is a conflict between Christian students upholding their rights to uphold [and publicly espouse] a sexual moral standard...and the public schools' attempts to basically enforce a politically correct view of homosexuality.”  She says people should be more aggressive in their free speech rights to procure more courts precedents, thus establishing, “. . . a more firm standard for religious freedom and freedom of speech.

Defending the National Day of Prayer  Focus on the Famil

Christians must spend more time in prayer, as ungodly groups continue trying to remove God from all aspects of our nation.  The Freedom From Religion Foundation has declared the National Day of Prayer to be unconstitutional.  A Wisconsin federal district court also says the law pointing the president to proclaim the annual observance of the NDP is unconstitutional.  However, prayer to Almighty God founded this nation and removal of prayer will destroy it.

Right to Die?  CitizenLink.com

According to Focus on the Family, “The Final Exit Network put up the signs in New Jersey and San Francisco — and coming soon to Florida — reading "My Life / My Death / My Choice."”  This is a “Right to Die” campaign promoting physician-assisted suicide.  Some feel this will make the terminally ill think they are a burden to others.  One counselor said the signs will serve as triggers for people already considering suicide.

New anti bully law  Focus on the Family, CitizenLink.com

The Illinois Governor signed an anti-bullying law very recently that, “. . . threatens parental rights and makes it easier to promote homosexuality in classrooms,” according to Focus on the Family.  This law could force schools to condone cross-dressing and boys using girls' restrooms.  At least 12 states have similar laws.

SEPTEMBER 2010

TO ALL CHURCH LEADERS AND CHRISTIANS

THROUGHOUT THE NATIONS

This is a personal message from Pastor Kevin Badgley to all churches

who will hear his voice by any means.

This word came at approximately 11:00 a.m. September 10, 2010  CST, USA

In the church world today, pray that each nation has a strong church to represent that nation.  Through that base they will receive the independence to support themselves in the ministry no matter how poor or oppressed.  If the people of that given nation will come to God and serve Him, then they will lack no good thing.  The world’s dependency on the United States for financial and spiritual guidance is about to change.

Each nation now (I speak concerning the church in each nation) must become by the Spirit of God as independent on outside help as possible!  God will still have evangelists and missionaries who will bring blessings, but their main focus will be to bring the anointing of the Holy Ghost as in the first days of the Church. Therefore all church leaders everywhere need to be in prayerful contact with one another as long as possible for soon God will be their SOLE provider.

This is not something to b e afraid about, but to rejoice about.  Through all this God will supernaturally sustain His individual churches and His people throughout the world.  Even though worldly communication will be stopped or severely restricted, the Church and its leaders will NOT be stopped. The gates of hell shall NOT prevail against them.

Consequently, this miraculous undertaking of God in the earth will carry such magnanimous effect of the miraculous, many will be scarcely able to comprehend it even though they see it.

When this begins to happen and even now is beginning to work, know that Jesus is at the very doors.  Be not dismayed.  Be strong for your God and do exploits.  God is FOR us.

Pastor Kevin Badgley

BE NOT WEARY

by Pastor Omare Dismas, Kenya, Africa, one of our international brothers

We don’t expect every day to be a bed of roses,

however, we do expect God to keep the weeds from choking us to death.

We maintain confident in his word alone.

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”  Galatians 6:9

PRAY for the Watchmen

by Sharon Cromwell, newsletter staff

Source: When the Watchmen Are Silenced, by Jan Markell, jan@olivetreeviews.org

A WATCHMAN is a GUARD.  Isaiah 62:6 sys, “I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence,”  Jeremiah 6:17 says, “Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. . . .”

There is a war in America to censor, transform, twist, and silence words.  A dangerous effort is in progress to control what we read and hear.  According to Jan Markell of Olive Tree Ministries, there is a planned takeover of print media, radio and television, and the Internet.  Proposed regulations, if put into action, will mean the end of free speech in America.  Jan Markell says, “Forces of darkness are wheeling and dealing, planning and scheming, to keep you from knowing the truth. And while some proponents of evil are principalities and powers of the air, many more are politicians dressed in expensive suits and very polished foreign-made shoes that match their gigantic self image as power-brokers. To carry out their schemes, they must silence opponents and truth-tellers. They must shut down all conservative and Christian voices.”

Revelation 13:7-8 talks about the Antichrist and says, “And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.  And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”

Jan Markell says, “This antichrist will be a passionate leader with an appealing message and the power of oratory that will be out of this world because his power comes from another world. He will be a master of doublespeak. But he must silence his opponents.”

Pray for God ordained watchmen.  God calls shepherds and others to help us in our walk with God.  Hebrews 13:17 says, “Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief. . . .”

Hold up the hands of the watchmen as Aaron and Hur held up the hands of Moses during battle.  Exodus 17:11 says, “And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.”

Exodus 17:12 says, “But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.”  Pray for godly leaders.

PRISON MINISTRY

by Sharon Cromwell, newsletter staff

In 1999 God spoke to Ann Evans to start sending God’s Word into prisons.  Pastor Kevin referred her to Matthew 25:36 where the King said, “Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.”  In Matthew 25:39 the righteous were asking the King, “. . . when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?”  In Verse 40 the King answered, “. . . Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”

Bible Courses, supplementary reading material, encouraging letters, and some of Pastor Kevin Badgley’s sermon booklets are sent free of charge to jail and prison inmates as a ministry of LHF as the Lord provides.

Many of these inmates have completed our Bible Study Courses and received certificates.  A 2003 study in Texas found that only eight percent of inmates involved in faith-based activities returned to prison within two years after release, compared to 20 percent of inmates of similar backgrounds and offenses who had no religious routine.

SALT & TRUTH  by Sharon Cromwell, newsletter staff

Matthew 5:13 says, “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.”         Verse 14 says, “Ye are the light of the world. . . .”  Verse 16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

If we have the savor of the Lord, we are the salt of the earth.  In John 14:6 Jesus said, “. . . I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”  We must preach and teach the TRUTH.  Jesus is truth.  God’s law is truth.  His commandments are truth (see Psalm 117:2, Psalm 119:142, and Psalm 119:151.)

Salt is used for preservation; it keeps things from rotting.  The world is dying without Jesus, but 2 Corinthians 5:18 says that God has reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and He has, “. . . given to us the ministry of reconciliation;”

Salt is rubbed into meat to preserve it.  People are preserved, saved by Jesus, the Truth.  We must live holy, and we must boldly show that God is alive and real.  Luke 14:34-35 tells us if salt has lost its savor, it is not even fit for the dunghill.  If you have lost your saltiness, seek God to help you get it back.  REPENT & RESALT!

SAVED TO THE UTTERMOST

by Rebecca Flores-Perez, Newsletter staff

Is it possible for man to fall from grace and “back slide?”  Would the God of love and mercy really be so “unkind”?  Do you believe God's Word is the final authority?

Matthew 7:19-21 says, “Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.  Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”

We should be fruit inspectors of our own produce.  Is it meet for the Master's use?  2 Timothy 2:21 tells us if we purge ourselves, we will be, “. . . sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.”  This happens through the working of the Holy Ghost.

Students Oppose Sin  CBN News & Life Site News

Two different universities are punishing Christian students because they disagree with their homosexual policies.  According to a news source, “Julea Ward was expelled from the graduate program in school counseling at Eastern Michigan University. She had told her professors that her faith would keep her from affirming the gay lifestyle for homosexual clients.  A federal judge has upheld her expulsion by the school.”

The Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) Senior Counsel, David French, who argued the case before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan last month, said, “Christian students shouldn't be expelled for holding to and abiding by their beliefs.  To reach its decision, the court had to do something that's never been done in federal court: uphold an extremely broad and vague university speech code.”

ADF also filed a lawsuit for Jennifer Keeton, a counseling student at Augusta State University in Georgia.  French said, “Requiring a student to change his or her beliefs to graduate is punishment of free speech.  That is not the role of the state and it is not within the power of the state.”  Keeton said they would not allow her to “graduate unless she changed her Christian beliefs against homosexuality,” according to a news source.

Rifqa Turned 18  The Columbus Dispatch

In Ohio, USA, Rifqa Bary recently converted to Christianity.  This teenager fled in fear of Islam punishment or death.  Rifqa just turned 18 years old, and she plans to be a Christian evangelist “preaching the word to all the nations” according to attorney Angela Lloyd.

INSURANCE  World Net Daily

Bob Unruh, of World Net Daily, says Virginia’s attorney general Ken Cuccinelli warns if the federal government can order citizens to purchase health insurance, “they can order you to do anything.”  Cuccinelli also warned, “If they can say that ordering you to do something is economic activity, ordering you into the economy, then they can order you to do anything, and we don't any longer have a government of limited powers.  However, the law does not have a clause that says if one part is illegal, the other part remains in effect.  Cuccinelli says, “If the individual mandate is found to be unconstitutional, as Virginia says it is, the whole bill falls.”

Stand still, Pray, and get Jailed – USA?  World Net Daily

According to Bob Unruh, of World Net Daily, “Two Chicago-area men have been accused of "disorderly conduct" for standing on a public sidewalk outside an influential abortion business and praying. . . .”  Peter Breen, executive director and legal counsel for the Thomas More Society says the city is trying to,

“. . . scare people off the public sidewalks.”  He says, “It was solely to intimidate pro-lifers.”  Holland was ONLY PRAYING when he was, according to Unruh, “. . . cuffed, taken into custody and booked at a police station. . . .”

TIME, PEOPLE, & THINGS

A short Bible study outling,by Sharon Cromwell, newsletter staff

Let’s make sure we see things in the right perspective and priority.  Matthew 22:37 says, “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.”

TIME

Treasure, do not waste the time on earth God has given you.  Each second, each moment, and every hour is valuable.  Even seconds?  Ask someone who has missed a vital appointment, or the train, bus or plane.  Ask someone who narrowly escaped death or destruction.

God made time:  Genesis 1:14 says, “And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:”

Use your time here wisely:  James 4:14 says, “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”

1 Corinthians 10:31 says, “. . . whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”

No more time:  Revelation 10:6 says, “And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:”

Hebrews 9:27 says, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”

Romans 2:6 says that God, “. . . will render to every man according to his deeds:”  See also 2 Corinthians 5:10.

Isaiah 57:15 says, “For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”

PEOPLE

Luke 6:31 says, “And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.”

Galatians 5:14 says, “For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”

Matthew 5:44 says, “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;”

THIN

One soul is worth more than the whole world, because the world will cease to be.  Souls are eternal.

2 Corinthians 4:18 says, “While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

Colossians 3:2 says, “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”

1 John 2:15-17 says, “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.  And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”

2 Peter 3:10-11 says, “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.  Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,”

Matthew 16:26 says, “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”

 LOOPHOLES

by Rebecca Flores-Perez, Newsletter staff

It confuses sinners when professing Christians are constantly looking for loopholes to sin.  Some have said, “God, just this one time.  That’s all I need.  I’ll give you the rest of my life if you’ll give me this."  Trying to make deals with the Almighty, Powerful God is not wise.

Genesis 6:3 says, “And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is

flesh. . . .”  We know this, yet we search for a way to  get what we want without suffering the consequences of sin.  Romans 6:23 says, For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Luke 14:33 says, “So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.”  What are you hanging on to that you haven’t fully committed to Christ?

U.N. Children's Rights Treaty  CNSNews.com, CitizenLink.com

Focus on the Family reports that if our nation approves this treaty, “. . . the United States would fall under the jurisdiction of an 18-member panel that oversees children's rights in nations that are part of the treaty. Among rights threatened would be parents' ability to direct their children's spiritual upbringing, as well as what and when they learn about sexuality.”  Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) says, “This treaty would, in fact, establish a precedent that those rights have been given over to the international community.  If the government, or even the international community, tells you how to raise your children here in America, is there anything that's off limits?"

UN Mandate in Botswana  Bob Unruh, WorldNetDaily

Police in Mahalapye, Botswana confiscated homeschoolers’ teaching materials and has ordered them to go to court.  The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) reported four families there are facing a court hearing September 9th court hearing.  Their web site reports, “The only reason the four families are facing this situation is because a Botswana judge is using the [United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the CRC] to impose his subjective view regarding education and to substitute his opinion as to what is in the 'best interests' of these children over the views of the parents.”  A magistrate ordered the children to be enrolled in public schools. They are threatened with possible jail and fines for failure to bow.  According to Bob Unruh of World Net Daily, investigators found the children, “. . . did not want to attend public schools and their home education was superior. The judge concluded they were cared for, but that could not overcome the demands of the UN.”

International Curriculum  WorldNetDaily.com

Conservatives are concerned over the U.N. International Baccalaureate (IB) Curriculum.  It is already used in 1,000 plus schools in the U.S.  According to Brannon Howse, founder and president of Worldview Weekend, “This U.N. curriculum is extremely hostile to Christians.  “It’s hostile to American values and ideas and very big on humanism, redistribution of wealth, and very big on pluralism and that all religions are equal.”  According to a 2007 report at

EdNews.org, the IB organization “. . . undermines the beliefs and values of the United States (also called the 'American creed').  The report concludes that, “. . . IB says that its purpose is teaching the beliefs and values that create students who are ‘world citizens.’”  Howse believes many conservatives do not understand how this curriculum will align America with international secularism.

Is a Sidewalk a Public Property?  LifeNews.com

The head of the Christian Defense Coalition recently disputed signs that said the sidewalk in front of a Planned Parenthood business in Washington D.C was private property.  Police had even threatened to arrest pro-lifers for praying and counseling there.  According to Focus on the Family, the “. . . District of Columbia Office of the Attorney General recently concluded that the sidewalk outside a Planned Parenthood (PP) abortion business in the nation's capital is public property.”  Perhaps prayer may be continued on the sidewalk without interruption.

Home Schooling  CitizenLink.com

In fall 2010 more than 300,000 Texas children will be home schooled.  One reason is that private school tuition fees have increased, and another is that parents don't want them in public school.  According to CitizenLink.com, “A recent U.S. Department of Education survey found that the top two reasons families choose to home school are religious values and morals.”

Court Rules in Favor of World Vision  CitizenLink.com

According to Focus on the Family, the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1, “. . . that World Vision, a faith-based relief organization, was free to hire and terminate based on its statement of faith. The case has been closely watched by religious organizations and nonprofits who receive federal funding. The ruling is a result of three World Vision employees who were found to have lied during the hiring process about specifics of their faith and were immediately released.”

Steve McFarland, chief legal officer for World Vision, said, “What's at stake is the religious freedom of every individual and church and para-church organization and faith-based organization in the country. Every member of Congress asks and discriminates against job applicants based on their political persuasion. Even Planned Parenthood asks where your politics are with respect to the sanctity of human life. You can call it the bad word 'discrimination,' but it's called 'free association.'”

Satan Hates God’s Commandments  OneNewsNow

The Marion City Council in Illinois wants to set up a Ten Commandments monument on the town's Tower Square.  An atheist of Chicago came to a recent council meeting and condemned the monument.   Rabbi Moshe Laurie reportedly said, "My problem is an atheist says he has no religion, and yet he demands that I forsake my religion," the rabbi voiced.  According to Charlie Butts of One News Now, the atheist has threatened the city with, “. . . a long, expensive, and losing battle if they follow through with the current plan.”  Help has been pledged by more than one legal organization.

End-of-Life Care  The Christian Post

According to The Christian Post, a study of doctors in the United Kingdom has found that doctors there , “. . . who are not religious are more likely to take steps to help end a very sick patient's life than doctors who are very religious.”  The doctors surveyed were from a wide range of specialties.  The study was published in the Journal of Medical Ethic.

THAT “INCH”

by Rebecca Flores-Perez, Newsletter staff    Manipulation comes in many forms. Perhaps it has caused you to compromise the things of God.  If you find that you have budged an inch and now it seems like the devil has taken a mile, ask God to show you where and how.  Search humbly, comparing yourself to Christ and the priorities in His Word.  Once you find that inch, repent and hold to the standard of God's Word, starting afresh.  Family, neighbors, and others may just be waiting on you to take the lead.

What standard are we showing others?  What sin do we overlook because we don’t want to address it?  Is it not better for people to endure hardship in this present life to the saving of their souls versus the agony and anguish they will face in eternity if they do not repent because of our negligence in telling them sin is sin?  (See Ezekiel 33:8.)

MINISTER GRACE

by Sharon Cromwell, newsletter staff

Out of the multitude of words spoken, not many minister grace.  Yet, Ephesians 4:29 tells us, “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.”

Matthew 12:37 says, “For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”  God hears our words, and even as we hear them, we “taste” them.  Job 34:3 says, “For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat.”  Our spirit is affected by words.

Honoring God should be a priority.  Ecclesiastes 10:12 says, “The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious. . . .”  Joel 2:13 tells us God is, “. . . gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness. . . .”

Ephesians 4:30 says, “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God. . . .”  Verse 31 says, “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:”  Obviously, these things do NOT minister grace to the hearers.

Bitterness:  Hebrews 12:15 says, “Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;”

Wrath:   James 1:20 sys, “For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.”

Anger:  Psalm 37:8 says, “Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.”  Psalm 145:8 tells us that the Lord is slow to anger.  Proverb 19:11 says, “The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.”

Clamour:  Webster’s says clamour is “noisy shouting, loud continuous noise, to become loudly insistent, to utter or proclaim insistently and noisily.”

Not only are we to minister grace to the hearers with our words, but we are to forgive people who do not minister that grace.  Ephesians 4:32 says, “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.”

Christian Flags  TOP News

People have ordered three hundred extra Christian flags since the ACLU intimidated the city council of King, N.C. into taking theirs down.  One pastor said of the council members, “They felt like they had been held hostage by the ACLU.”  The charge was “a violation of the separation of church and state”.

The First Amendment says, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Steve Eastman of TOP News says, “A careful examination reveals the amendment only mentions Congress, not municipalities.  It may also be argued that including a flag in a memorial is an expenditure, which is technically different from a law.”

UPDATE:  More than five thousand people now have rallied in King, N.C. to make their voices heard concerning the removal of the Christian flag, making it clear that they enthusiastically support the Christian flag and our freedoms.

Christian Colleges at Risk  wnd.com

The Department of Education is proposing a federal rule change that would force colleges and universities to “. . . have a document of state approval … to operate an educational program, including programs leading to a degree or certificate,” according to Shapri D. LoMaglio for the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities.

Former Senator Bill Armstrong, now president of Colorado Christian University, told WND, "The Department of Education is attempting to subject every college and university in America – public and private – to political supervision.”  With state approval you can expect them to monitor and respond to complaints from the public.

Armstrong and another former senator and higher education leader, Hank Brown, have written in their commentary published on Colorado Christian University's website, “As a practical matter, the department's power grab carries with it an implicit invitation for various pressure groups to seek legal mandates requiring colleges and universities to implement their pet theories about curriculum, degree requirements, faculty qualifications, teaching methods, textbooks, evolution, phonics, ROTC, climate change, family policy, abortion, race, sexual orientation, economic theory, etc.  If adopted, regional accreditation will be denied to any institution that has not first been given 'substantive' state 'authorization.'”  They wrote, “Loss of accreditation is literally a death sentence.”

There are fears that as important decisions are transferred, the new bosses will use mass authority to destroy any training but theirs.

Christians Arrested Update  World Net Daily

In our August 2010 issue newsletter, we reported on the four Christians who were arrested while witnessing at an Arab festival in Dearborn, Michigan.  Here is an update on them.

World Net Daily (WND) says that jurors in Michigan have ruled that four evangelists did not commit a breach of peace at the festival as police had claimed.”  Some fear development of special treatment for Muslims in the U.S., subjecting other faiths to a lowered status.  Robert Muise, a senior counsel for the Thomas More Law Center, told WND that other organizations had representatives at the festival, but they were not charged by police because they complied, “. . . with Islamic religious law, or Shariah, by not presenting the Gospel message of the Bible to others.”  Muise told WND, “They are not a threat [to Islam]. They already are suppressed.”

Qureshi, a co-founder of the ministry the arrested Christians represented, said his group took "extra precautions" to prevent disruptions.  They did not hand out pamphlets and only spoke to people after they first approached them.

UN Condones Persecution!  Open Doors

Every one should have the right to choose and practice their faith freely. However, in repressive countries Christians are arrested, tortured, and murdered.  According to Open Doors, “The UN Defamation of Religions Resolution threatens the freedom of religion and seeks to criminalize words or actions perceived as attacks against a religion, with the focus being on protecting Islam.  Passing this resolution results in the UN condoning state-sponsored persecution of Christians and members of other minority faith groups.”  Christians or Jews and other members of minority faiths who evangelize can be punished under blasphemy laws.

Somalia  ASSIST News Service (ANS

Pray for Somalia Christians.  They are being persecuted unmercifully.  According to Assist News Service, Mansuur (age 25) rejected conversion to Islam, which would have spared his life, and he was publicly beheaded.  Church leaders are systematically shot or beheaded.  Others are killed just for not obeying Sharia law.

Israel  Daily Alert, (Ha'aretz)

Webster’s Dictionary says that a Trojan horse is “a subversive group or device placed within enemy ranks.”  According to Natasha Mozgovaya of the Daily Alert, “Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat told the Washington     Institute for Near East Policy . . . . that a divided capital could never function.”  The mayor said, “There is not one example in the world of a split city that worked.  Israel took a risk in Gaza. . . .  Doing the same thing in Jerusalem would be like having a Trojan horse in the heart of the city.”

OKLAHOMA  CBN News

Soon Oklahoma voters can decide to ban Islamic Sharia law from their state courts.

According to CBNnews.com, “The ballot initiative would prohibit judges from considering Islamic or other international law when ruling on cases in the Sooner state.”  It is hoped that the nation will follow Oklahoma's lead.

ACROBATICS OF STRIFE

by Sharon Cromwell, newsletter staff

James 3:16 says, “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.” Proverbs 13:10 says, “Only by pride cometh contention. . . .”

People jump to conclusions. The trapeze swings over to someone who hears about it, with a new twist. Sometimes we feel we are walking on eggshells, or are left twirling after malicious comments.  People will stand with arms out and defy you to pass without confrontation.  Strife will keep your mind flipping to divert your focus.  Strife splits relationships, ruins peace, and brings depression and discontentment.  Don’t bend over backwards trying to please everybody.  However, Romans 12:18 says, “If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.”!!

OBEDIENCE

by Sharon Cromwell, newsletter staff

Source:  Oswald Chambers, from "Isn't There Some Misunderstanding?”

Oswald Chambers has said, “Just because I don’t understand what Jesus Christ says, I have no right to determine that He must be mistaken in what He says. That is a dangerous view, and it is never right to think that my obedience to God's directive will bring dishonor to Jesus. The only thing that will bring dishonor is not obeying Him.”

If we truly seek the Lord, He will answer us, because Mathew 7:7 says, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:”

However, there are many voices. How can we know God’s will and voice? First you must know God’s Word is truth, and then PRAY. Chambers says, “I know when the instructions have come from God because of their quiet persistence. But when I begin to weigh the pros and cons, and doubt and debate enter into my mind, I am bringing in an element that is not of God. This will only result in my concluding that His instructions to me were not right.”

John 14:15 says, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” Obedience is blessed by God. He left no room for excuses for disobedience to Him. Chambers has said, “Many of us are faithful to our ideas about Jesus Christ, but how many of us are faithful to Jesus Himself?”  “. . . faithfulness to my own ideas means that I first clear the way mentally. Faith, however, is not

intellectual understanding; faith is a deliberate commitment to the Person of Jesus Christ, even when I can’t see the way ahead.”

In Matthew 14:29 Jesus told Peter to, “Come,” so he got out of the ship and walked on the water to go to Jesus. He obeyed, but his faith failed and he began to sink. He cried, “Lord, save me,” and Verse 31 says instantly,

“. . . Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him. . . .” Peter obeyed, prayed for help, and Jesus took care of him. Obedience brought forth fruit:  Peter walked on water.  That was a miracle.

Chambers says, “Are you debating whether you should take a step of faith in Jesus, or whether you should wait until you can clearly see how to do what He has asked? Simply obey Him with unrestrained joy.”

Ephesians 3:20-21 says, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”

“John 2:5 says, “. . . Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.” In all things let the Lord be glorified!

SHINE, SHINE, SHINE

by Rebecca Flores-Perez, Newsletter staff

Luke 9:26 says, “For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels.”

If you have had an experience with Jesus Christ, I urge you to testify about what the Lord has done for you.  He is worthy of all praise.  You do not have to post it on a bill board or grab a microphone and tell the whole world.  Start by just letting your light shine.  Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

Tell the person that you are closest to.  It might cause them to seek, ask, and knock for themselves and receive the same type of blessing.  Romans 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth. . . .”

WHY?

by Sharon Cromwell, newsletter staff

Source:  Tragedy Trauma Triumph, WHY by T. L. Osborn

When trauma or tragedy comes to us, we hurt.  We wonder how to fix it.  We ask, “Why?”  When Brother Osborn’s wife Daisy died, he acknowledged, “Although distraught and frustrated, I concluded that asking “WHY?” was negative and could become very destructive.  It brought no healing and resolved no dilemma.”

The why is not as important as learning to rely on God through it all.  Brother Osborn says, “I was aware that a quest for the answer to why tragedy occurs often camouflages the deadly and insidious emotions of bitterness, resentment, exasperation, rancor, hostility, animosity, vengeance – all sentiments that produce a form of slow but sure

self-destruction – and can even become suicidal.”  He warned that tragedy can cause one to become “a living dead person” themselves.

Brother Osborn said, “In suffering one learns patience.  In pain one learns tenderness.  I had come to realize more deeply than ever the sensitivity of our Lord for those who suffer.”  1 Peter 5:7 says, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”  Isaiah 53:3 tells us that, “He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief. . . .”

Hebrews 4:15 says, “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities. . . .”  Verse 16 says, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”  For Christians, Revelation 7:17 lets us know that one day, “. . . God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.”

Do not let trauma or tragedy paralyze you.  Do not let hopelessness or despair take you down.  Psalm 42:5 says, “Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God. . . .”

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says, “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”  Romans 15:4 speaks of the comfort of the Scriptures.

Loneliness is a bitter thing.  Osborn said he didn’t want a future without his wife,

“. . . but I realized that I must accept it and that it was up to me to make it livable and pleasant.”  He realized that life would not be the same.  He said, “The scenery would be changed.  My

outook would have to be refocused.”

Some of the feelings Brother Osborn testified to are insecurity, uncertainty, emptiness, panic, anger, disorientation, depression, pain, and loneliness.  He said he had to reassess his life, his priorities, and his goals.  Because he is a Christian he said, “Every remaining day must count for God – and for the hurting world in which I live.”  He reminded himself to walk

courageously.  He encourages others to, “Resolve to continue in life – productively.  Let your countenance project blessing to people.  They need you.”

Hebrews 13:5says, “. . . he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”   Luke 4:18 lets us know that Jesus was sent to heal the brokenhearted.  Isaiah 61:3 tells us Jesus was sent – “To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.”

Osborn said, “The pendulum of my life has swung between acceptance or rejection,

resentment or a new commitment, withdrawing into the past or reaching into the future, grief and bitterness for what I have lost or joy and gratitude for all that remains.”

We have options!  Brother Osborn says, “We can adjust our focus and live, or we can make our lives a misery to ourselves and to those around us.  We are in charge of our own

attitude.”

Encourage yourself in God, and read His Word.  Pray and have your Christian brothers and sisters pray with you and for you.  Psalm 27:14 says, “Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.”  Yes, God loves YOU!

Pledge of Allegiance

Patriotic traditions have been targeted for annihilation in our public schools, but a federal appeals court upheld the constitutionality of the Pledge of Allegiance in New Hampshire schools recently.

Lawsuit Dismissed

An atheist group challenged the engravings of the National Motto and Pledge of Allegiance at the Capitol Visitor Center in Washington, D.C., but the ACLJ helped get victory, and a federal district court dismissed the lawsuit.

Life Upheld in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh pro-life citizens can again speak freely on pro-life issues.

Students' Rights

A Colorado Springs middle school will permit a seventh-grade student to wear a small cross on a chain to school.

In New York the ACLJ successfully defended the constitutional rights of a 13-year-old student.

In Alabama a public university student’s religious beliefs have been upheld by her university, with legal assistance from the ACLJ.

CLA Assists Christian School

The Legal Alert, Nov. 2010, christianlaw.or

CLA was able to assure a Christian school in New York that it was NOT required to allow a gay rights group to start a Gay Straight Alliance club in its Christian School.  The school had received a call from a gay rights group asking to start a club there.  As private institutions, Christian schools are permitted to uphold moral standards for their students and staff based on the Bible, including prohibiting immoral conduct or conversation of any kind whatsoever.

Pro-life Pregnancy Centers Targeted

the American Center for Law and Justice

Planned Parenthood, NARAL: Pro-Choice America, and pro-abortion legislators are trying to shut down pro-life ''crisis'' pregnancy centers that offer counseling to women on abortion alternatives.  Politicians in New York City are being pressured by these groups to make new regulations and expenditures in order to force the pregnancy centers to shut down.  ACLJ says this will affect all cities in America.  “This is a life-or-death issue for millions of unborn babies,” says the ACLJ.

The Economy

The Legal Alert, Nov. 2010, christianlaw.org

When Uzziah was 16 years old, he became king in Jerusalem and he lived right in the sight of the LORD.  2 Chronicles 26:5 says, “. . . and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.”

According to “God’s Plan for the American Economy”, an article published by the Christian Law Association, “As America tries to get back on track economically, one fact is often overlooked.  Free and open markets can produce great prosperity.  But unless Biblical values are applied, we have also seen that greed and chaos can result.”

We know that economics is about more than money management.  Unless we as individuals and as a nation live with Godly values, we don’t need to expect God’s blessing.  However, if we repent and do right, we will prosper.  Let us pray collectively for America.
