FORGETFUL HEARING
by Pastor Kevin Badgley
James 1:25 says, “But
whoso
looketh into the perfect law of liberty,
and continueth therein,
he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer
of the work, this man shall be
blessed
in his deed.”
That perfect law of liberty is the gospel of Jesus
Christ!
1 John 3:8 tells us that Jesus came that He might
destroy the works of the devil!
There is an avenue we must take in order to have power
over all the power of the enemy (see Luke 10:19).
We must accept Jesus AND follow Jesus.
If you forget the commandments, how can you follow
them? You’ve got
to have your mind and heart set on the things of God!
Everybody forgets sometimes, but don’t forget what God
tells you. Don’t
forget to read your Bible, and pray, and fast, and seek the
Lord’s will on matters.
Make these things a priority.
Jesus Christ should be number one
in your life.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All
scripture
is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness.
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto
all good works.”
Deuteronomy 8:11 says, “Beware that thou forget not the
LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his
judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day.”
God gave a command not to forget His Word, so that you
would
do
it and be blessed in your deed.
By obeying God’s Word you are blessed in your life.
If you confess Christ, but do not obey Christ, your confession
is worthless.
Jesus said in John 14:15, “If ye love me, keep my
commandments.”
God’s Word is true.
There is no arguing with it.
If the preaching is according to the Word of God, quit
arguing with the preacher, and listen to what God is telling
you through them.
Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for lack of
knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will
also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me:
seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also
forget thy children.”
If you reject knowledge, you will not be an intercessor
to God, and He will forget your children.
If you reject knowledge, God will reject you, and you
will be destroyed.
You have forgotten the law of your God.
You’ve heard the Word of the Lord, but you forgot it,
and it doesn’t do you any good.
Genesis 6:3 says, “And the LORD said, My spirit shall not
always strive with man. . . .”
Hebrews 11:6 says, “. . . he that cometh to God must believe
that he is, and that
he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
God is not going to tolerate forgetful hearing. Rebuke
the devil, and ask God to bring back your
hearing.
Don’t forget the Lord.
Call unto him; He said He would answer.
Confess your sin and make the change.
Become a doer of God’s Word and be blessed!
James 1:22 says, “. . .
be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only.
. . .”
