YOUR WATER POT

DETERMINING THE
NATURAL AND THE SPIRITUAL THINKING
Isaiah
55:9 says, “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so
are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your
thoughts.”
When
God does something He has a purpose for it. I’ve questioned
God from time to time, but when I see the end result I know
He was right all along! We should trust God and learn not
to stress out, because when God is moving, things are
changing. God always thinks ahead, so get out of carnality
and don’t dwell in the past. Trust God instead of your own
thinking.
Romans
8:5 says, “For they that are after the flesh do mind the
things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the
things of the Spirit.”
One
meaning of the word mind is “entertains and has an opinion
to think in a certain direction or a certain interest”.
Many times we entertain the flesh and afterward we get
frustrated, because we could have easily got into God’s Word
and it would have helped us for days and days. I’ve never
watched a movie that I enjoyed more than a couple of hours
after it was over.
Another meaning for the word mind is “to fence in, to close,
to block up, or to captivate! We can fence in our mind
where we don’t think outside what we know or believe! A
fence restrains something, and we can do that with our
minds. If we fence it in on the carnal side, we keep the
Spirit of God out and the flesh in. What we see, hear,
think, and feel is carnally motivated.
Again,
Romans 8:5 says, “For they that are after the flesh do mind
the things of the flesh; but they that are after the
Spirit the things of the Spirit.” You can also fence in
the spiritual mind and be renewed daily through the power of
the Holy Ghost. Then we will have the mind of Christ.
Romans
8:6 says, “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be
spiritually minded is life and peace.” To box in the
natural mind is death.
Romans
8:7-8 says, “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God:
for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can
be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.”
We are born with the carnal mind, but when we are “born
again” old things are passed away, and all of the old nature
should be gone out of our life and buried.
Jesus
was going to Galilee but He had to get off of his route,
because He had an unction from the Holy Spirit to go into
Samaria. John, Chapter 4, tells us that Jesus NEEDED to go
through Samaria. Being weary, he sat on the well, and a
woman came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me to
drink,” and she wanted to know why He was even speaking to
her! At that time the Jews considered the Samaritans as
dogs. However, Jesus doesn’t care what you’ve done in the
past, what you think about yourself, or what others think
about you. He cares about the need of your soul. ALL who
come to Him have the ability to become the sons of God, and
He will go OUT of HIS WAY for you.
Jesus
will go out of His way to meet with one person! John 4:10
says, “Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the
gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to
drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have
given thee living water.” The gift of God is salvation.
The woman did not perceive what Jesus was saying, because
she saw that He had no water pot, so how was He going to
give her a drink? We pay too much attention to natural
things when we bring a need to the Lord.
You
can draw natural water with a bucket, but it can’t hold any
more than its capacity limit. At full capacity it is
heavy. We fill our bucket with our children, our spouse,
our finances, troubles and worries, other people, and we
take it to the Lord day after day. Our hands and our hearts
get weary lifting that heavy water pot! God can’t move like
that. Put it on the altar and quit taking it home with
you. 2 Corinthians 3:17 says, “Now the Lord is that Spirit:
and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
Genesis says when the Spirit of God moved, things happened.
Things became when God’s Spirit moved, and not until! When
God moves, He changes things, people are delivered, and hell
is damaged. You can’t stomp your foot and do anything to
the devil. However, if God gets on your foot, you can stomp
the devil, and it will make a difference! If God’s not on
your hands, leave them in your pocket.
John
4:14 says, “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall
give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give
him shall be in him a well of water springing up into
everlasting life.” If your water spring is stopped, first
check your salvation, and then hammer the devil!
Verse
15 says, “The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this
water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.”
When I am thirsty, common sense tells me to go where the
water is. Are you thirsty for God? Do you know where to
find that living water? It seems so hard to get there. We
are carrying such a heavy load.
Look
at Verse 28 that says, “The woman then left her waterpot,
and went her way. . . .” You need to leave your water pot,
forsake your natural thinking, and put your burdens on God’s
altar! Quit dragging that weight around. Quit trying to
figure out how you can do it all, and get God’s living river
flowing through you! Lay some things down and get right
with God. God help us to get to the Spiritual side where
there is liberty and peace and where the anointing destroys
every bondage!
