1. JUDGMENT MORE TOLERABLE?

Judgment will be "more tolerable" for some, but eternal damnation, hell, and the lake of fire are for ALL who die as sinners. God rained fire and brimstone from heaven on Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 19:24)! Read Matthew 10:15, Matthew 12:42, Mark 6:11, Mark 12:40, and Luke 20:47.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. Matthew 23:14.

Read Luke 12:42-48 about the servants. Are there degrees of punishment for sin? Read Matthew 23:14-15, John 19:11, Deuteronomy 32:22, and Psalm 86:13.

2. JUDGMENT ON JEWS AND GENTILES Read Matthew 12:18 and Jeremiah 9:25.

(28) For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: (29) But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. Romans 2:28-29.

3. MAN'S JUDGMENT

A. Jesus is our example. He had to face man's judgment. He was questioned by many. Read John 18:19 and 1 Peter 2:23. Read about Christ's arrest and crucifixion in Matthew Chapters 26-28. Man's judgment did not stop the resurrection of Jesus; He was innocent. His resurrection is recorded in Mark Chapter 16, John Chapter 20 & 21, and Luke Chapter 24.

Man's judgment can be very wrong, if not guided by the Holy Ghost. Jesus faced man's judgment, and we will also, BUT, it is God's judgment that will give you eternal life or eternal death. Read John 18:28. They did not realize that they were actually killing the PASSOVER that God was sending them. They were not going to be defiled according to the law of Moses, yet they made a horrible mistake, because their heart was not right with God.

B. We all face man's judgment. Some think their secret lives are hid but God sees all. Read Luke 8:17 and 1 Timothy 5:24-25. How are we able to face all these judgments? Live clean and trust God. We are not to lean on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). Read Romans 14:4.

But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake. Luke 21:12.

There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another? James 4:12.

And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; Philippians 1:9.

God has given us a conscience and the ability to choose right from wrong. He has given us Matthew 7:15-23. He said in Verse 16, "Ye shall know them by their fruits. . . ." Those that don't do the will of God will not enter the kingdom of heaven. John 7:24 says, "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment."

You don't get so spiritual in God that you can sin and get by. There is no respect of persons with God. There is a place in God BY HOLINESS that few obtain. When you do get to the spiritual place that you suffer as Paul suffered and obey God as he obeyed God, perhaps you can say what he said about being able to judge and yet he himself is judged of no man. Because of the abundance of revelations, God made sure he was not exalted above measure. Read 2 Corinthians 12:7-10.

But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 1 Corinthians 2:15.

For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 1 Corinthians 11:31.

Paul had already attained a place in God by judging himself by God's word. He knew he had confidence in God (1 John 3:20-21) because his heart was not condemned by sin. Therefore he knew the LORD was his judge, above all.

(1) Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. (2) Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. (3) But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. (4) For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord. 1 Corinthians 4:1-4. Read Galatians 2:20.

Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 1 Corinthians 6:2. Read 1 Corinthians 6:1-11.

4. FEAR OF GOD/JUDGMENT

The Bible has many references on the fear of God. Read Psalm 19:9, Psalm 119:120, and 2 Peter 3:9.

Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. Ecclesiastes 8:11.

Felix said (Acts 26:28) "almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian" to Paul. When you WAIT when God is calling you to salvation, you let the devil get a hold.

And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee. Acts 24:25.

(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) 2 Corinthians 6:2.

(26) For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, (27) But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. (28) He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: (29) Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? Hebrews 10:26-30.

Read Matthew 5:29-30 and Mark 9:43-50. Read Matthew 10:24-28 and Luke 12:5-7 about man fear. Read Matthew 16:26 about losing your soul.

5. REJOICE BECAUSE OF GOD'S JUDGMENTS

If you love and fear God enough to serve him in holiness then you will be READY to meet him with a clean heart (John 14:15 and Hebrews 12:14). You will rejoice in his judgments because you will not be condemned with the unjust, but will receive the reward of the righteous (Matthew Chapter 25 and 1 Corinthians 11:31-32). Read James 2:13 and 1 John 4:17. We can overcome sin. Read 1 John 5:4-5, Revelation 2:7, 11, 17, 26, Revelation 3:5, 11, 12, 21, Revelation 21:6-8.

If you don't fear him enough to serve him, then you will fear him when his wrath is poured out on the ungodly. The Bible says every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Read Colossians 3:6, Romans 14:11-12, and Philippians 2:9-11. Read also Revelation 11:18, Psalm 97:8, and Psalm 119:164.

6. MERCY AND DESERVE

I know, O LORD, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me. Psalm 119:75. Read Hosea 5:15.

O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing. Jeremiah 10:24. Read Psalm 119:124.

The king shall mourn, and the prince shall be clothed with desolation, and the hands of the people of the land shall be troubled: I will do unto them after their way, and according to their deserts will I judge them; and they shall know that I am the LORD. Ezekiel 7:27.

And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such deliverance as this; Ezra 9:13.

And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth. Job 11:6.

7. HEARERS AND DOERS. Read James 4:17 and Romans 1:32.

8. NO RESPECT OF PERSONS

For there is no respect of persons with God. Romans 2:11. Read 2 Corinthian 5:10, Romans 14:10, and 1 Peter 1:17.

9. JEALOUS GOD

God will not allow you to put ANY thing before him. If you put your will and desire before the will and desire of God for your life, you have made your own will an idol in your heart. Submit your will to God so you can be saved. Holiness is required and without it you cannot have eternal life. Read Ephesians 2:3, 2 Peter 1:3-4, and James 3:6. Read Exodus 20:3-5, Deuteronomy 4:24, Nahum 1:2, and Deuteronomy 6:14-15.

For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God: Exodus 34:14.

10. JUDGMENT GIVEN TO JESUS

(22) For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: (23) That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. (24) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. (25) Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. (26) For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; (28) And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. (28) Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, (29) And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. (30) I can of mine own self do nothing; as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. John 5:22-30.

Read also Jeremiah 23:5, Isaiah 11:1-5, John 8:16, John 9:39, Acts 10:42, Matthew 17:5, Jude 1:14-15, John 12:48. Read John Chapter 1 about the Word.

And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. Romans 5:16. Read Romans 5:12-21.

Adam sinned and therefore judgment came upon all (Genesis Chapter 3). Jesus came and became the atoning sacrifice to reconcile "whosoever" back to God (Revelation 22:17).

11. JUDGMENT BY JESUS

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. 2 Corinthians 5:10. Read 2 Timothy 4:1-2.

Jesus makes intercession to the Father for us (Romans 8:34). Read Luke 13:6-9. Jesus tells a parable about the fig tree. He told how one interceded for the tree that bore no fruit, and how that one was willing to work on that tree. If the tree then bore no fruit, it would be cut down. Read James 5:7. We are the tree and Jesus is the one willing to intercede to God for us and work with us.

MERCY SEAT: Read Leviticus Chapter 16 about the day of atonement and the sacrificing within the veil. The mercy seat was behind the veil. When Jesus was crucified, the veil of the temple was ripped apart, letting us closer to God through Jesus (Matthew 27:51). Jesus is our atoning sacrifice to God and our mediator. Be sure to read Hebrews Chapter 10. Verse 20 speaks of his flesh being the veil by which we can enter the holiest. Read Isaiah 53:5 and John 19:34-37.

(14) Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. (15) For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. (16) Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:14-16.

It is important that you read Hebrews 9:24-28. Read also 1 Peter 5:4, 1 John 2:28, 1 John 3:2, and Titus 3:4-8.

12. JUDGMENT HERE SO WE WON'T BE CONDEMNED THEN

For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 1 Peter 4:17.

It is better to let Jesus judge you while there is time for you to repent. Don't wait till God judges you at the last day. God sends judgments and afflictions here (so we will repent) to cleanse and purify us so we won't be condemned with sinners at the final judgment (Hosea 5:15). Read Hebrews 12:5-13.

(31) For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. (32) But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. 1 Corinthians 11:31-32.

13. WHITE THRONE JUDGMENT

(JUDGMENT BY GOD)

Read Revelation Chapters 20-22. Revelation 20:11-15 tells about the white throne judgment.

(11) And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. (12) And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. (13) And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. (14) And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. (15) And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:11-15.

Sinners will be resurrected to receive the second death. Read Revelation Chapter 20 and Chapter 21:1-8 about the first resurrection, the second death, the lake of fire, and the great white throne judgment.

(7) He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. (8) But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Revelation 21:7-8.

14. WHEN IS THE END? Read 1 Corinthians 15:24-28, Matthew Chapter 24, Revelation Chapter 22, Mark 8:36-37, and Luke 9:24-25.
