IT'S HEAVEN OR HELL.
YOU CAN KNOW THAT YOU ARE SAVED!

LESSON #8

OUTLINE:

1. GROW IN CHRIST
2. THE BLOOD
3. THE FEAR OF GOD
4. BELIEVE AND KNOW
5. OVERCOME
6. CONTINUE
7. STRENGTH
8. ENDURE
9. ACCORDING TO WORKS
10. ESCAPE

You can know now if you are "saved" (ready to meet God and are going to go to be with him instead of going to hell). "Once saved, always saved" is a doctrine of the devil; it takes away the fear of God and soothes the conscience. It removes the knowledge of the responsibility that you must keep your life and heart clean before God. If you sin, you must ask God to forgive you. When God forgives you, your record in heaven is clean again. In this manner we continue in Christ and endure to the end. There are scriptures on these subjects. We shall all be judged according to our works. God is merciful unto us as we endeavor to grow in Christ. If you continually keep sin out of your life and keep the blood of Jesus applied to your heart, you can stay ready (unashamed, without sin) to meet God.

(1) GROW IN CHRIST

1 Peter 2:2. As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 1 Peter 2:3. If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

Ephesians 4:13. Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: Ephesians 4:15. But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

2 Peter 3:18. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

(2) THE BLOOD

God is merciful to us when we are a baby in Christ. We are to grow in Christ, striving that we may obtain maturity in Christ. He is not merciful to the habitual and wilful sinning of a person stubborn and rebellious to the commandments of God!

Hebrews 10:26-29. (26) For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, (27) But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. (28) He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: (29) Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

Revelation 1:5. And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Read Romans 5:9, Ephesians 1:7, 1 John 1:7, and Revelation 12:11.

(3) THE FEAR OF GOD

The fear of God will keep you from sinning. Rev. 21:8 lists the fearful and unbelieving along with others who shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone. These are those whose fear of God is not greater than all their other fears. Our fear of God must overrule and cancel out our other fears.

Luke 12:4-5. (4) And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. (5) But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

1 Peter 4:17. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 1 Peter 4:18. And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

Isaiah 66:2. For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. Read Isaiah 57:15.

2 Corinthians 7:1. Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Other scriptures: Ecclesiastes 12:13, Malachi 3:16, Malachi 4:2, and Hebrews 10:31, 1 Peter 1:16, Jude 1:23, Acts 10:34 & 35.

(4) BELIEVE AND KNOW

How can we know that we are saved and know it?

John 5:24. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Read also 1 John 3:14.

Romans 6:23. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 John 5:13. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Mark 16:16. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

John 3:16. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:36. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life; and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Romans 1:16. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Read Romans 10:11 & John 11:26.

MEMORIZE: Romans 10:9. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:10. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

(5) OVERCOME

Romans 12:21. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. Read Revelation 12:11.

1 John 5:4. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 1 John 5:5. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

(6) CONTINUE

We are in a race. Read Hebrews 12:1 & 1 Cor. 9:24. It is appointed unto man once to die. We must continue in Christ until we obtain eternal life. Read John 15:9, 1 John 2:24 and 1 Timothy 4:16.

Romans 2:6-11. (6) Who will render to every man according to his deeds: (7) To them who by patient continuance in well-doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: (8) But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, (9) Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; (10) But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: (11) For there is no respect of persons with God.

John 8:31. Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed:

Romans 11:22. Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

Colossians 1:20-23. (20) And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. (21) And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled (22) In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: (23) If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

Acts 14:22. Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

(7) STRENGTH

The devil is a real adversary whom we must resist stedfastly. If we humble ourselves to God in prayer and ask Him for strength, he will give it. Read 1 Peter 5:6-10. Read also 2 Peter 1:1-11.

It is promised that we will have trials. God desires that we overcome and will give strength for victory (1 John 3:18-24). Read 1 Cor. 10:13.

1 Cor. 15:58. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Don't entertain things you know are a snare to you, what ever it be. Proverbs 18:7, Proverbs 22:24-25, Proverbs 29:25, 1 Timothy 6:6-10, Hebrews 12:1, and Psalm 101:3.

1 Peter 2:11. Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

2 Peter 2:9. The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

Psalm 34:19. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

Strength: Isaiah 35:4, 1 Peter 3:15, Psalm 27:14, Isaiah 40:29 & 31, & Gal. 6:9.

(8) ENDURE

We must continue in Christ, and continue, TO THE END. There is no stopping place. Hebrews 6:15 says, "And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise." Read also James 5:11.

1 Corinthians 15:1. Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 1 Corinthians 15:2. By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. (read all of this chapter)

James 1:12. Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Matthew 10:22. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. Read also Mark 13:13.

(9) ACCORDING TO WORKS

We are saved by grace, not works (Eph. 2:8-9), but after we are born again works become extremely important. We show what we believe by what we do (Proverbs 20:11). Read Hebrews 11:6, 1 John 3:8, 1 Thessalonians 2:13, Romans 10:2, Colossians 3:23-25, James 4:17, James 2:14-22, Matthew 16:27.

Revelation 20:12. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Proverbs 24:12. If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?

(10) ESCAPE

What can we do to escape going to hell? Watch and pray. Wait and pray. Work and pray. Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Read 1 Thessalonians 1:10 and 2 Peter 2:5.

Luke 21:36. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Psalm 71:2. Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me.

Romans 5:9. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

Hebrews 2:3. How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; Read also Hebrews 12:25.

1 Corinthians 10:13. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
