Prison Ministry
In 1999 God spoke to me and said, “You need to start
sending My Word into the prisons. I prayed some more, and then I
told my Bible Study Teacher that God was talking to me about this.
To my surprise God was talking to her also. We went to
the Pastor, and told him that God was dealing with us about
getting a prison ministry started.
He referred us to Matthew 25:36 where the Kings
said, “Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited
me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.” In Matthew 25:39
the righteous were asking the King, “. . . when saw we thee
sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?” In Verse 40 the
King answered, “. . . Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye
have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye
have done it unto me.”
We started with just two inmates for whom we had
addresses. Then people gave us names of others in prison,
so we could get someone in that facility to start working
for God. These inmates told others, and from that we have
several that have received God’s Word.
Those who accept it are sent a
Basic Bible
Course, supplementary reading material, and encouraging
letters, along with Pastor Kevin Badgley’s sermon booklets.
This is all supplied free of charge to jail and prison
inmates as a ministry of LHF.
Many of
these inmates have completed our simple Basic Bible Course
and received certificates. Some have also received
certificates for our Church Course.
Studies show that inmates who
participate in religious programs while incarcerated are
less likely to return once they get out! A 2003 study in
Texas found that only eight percent of inmates involved in
faith-based activities returned to prison within two years
after release, compared to 20 percent of inmates of similar
backgrounds and offenses who had no religious routine.
If you would like to add an inmate to our list of
recipients, or if you would like to
