CURSES
Preface
(curses, obedience,
fear)
There is a great tragedy in the house of God!
Men do not fear God.
The Bible tells us that God killed not only sinners,
but His people when they sinned.
Disobedience to God is cursed.
In Luke 12:4-5 Jesus counseled us not to fear men, but
God! “And I say
unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body,
and after that have no more that they can do.
But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him,
which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea,
I say unto you, Fear him.
CURSES
by Pastor Kevin Badgley
There is a great tragedy in the house of God!
There is no fear of God in His own house, the church of
the Living God.
Men do not fear God.
Read this from the third chapter of Romans: Verse 10-12
says, “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
There is none that understandeth, there is none that
seeketh after God.
They are all gone out of the way, they are together
become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not
one.”
Verse 18 says, “There is no fear of God before their
eyes.” I believe
that this is a key reason that there are none righteous, that
they have all gone out of the way, become unprofitable, and
there are none that do good!
The church is so carnal that you cannot tell much
difference between them and the world.
I believe this is gross sin, abomination, and a shame
to the house of God.
It is an abomination to have the enemy in God’s
habitation (see 1 Samuel 2:32) so thick that God’s people
cannot and will not live for God!
I heard a well known preacher say that the wrath of God
is not meant for, nor does it ever come upon, His people.
That in itself is ridiculous!
The Bible is filled with accounts where the wrath of
God came upon His people.
God killed not only sinners, but he also killed His
people when they strayed, when they sought after other gods,
when they neglected the walk with God that they were supposed
to have, when they sinned against God, when they lied to God,
when they mocked God, and did anything contrary to the Word of
God. God killed
them. He sent
plagues and pestilences.
He sent devils against all those who came against the
Word of God.
One reason God’s people do not fear God any more is
that so-called men of God are preaching it out of them!
They are telling them not to fear God and not to worry
about God smiting them to the wall.
I’m not telling you that people should be nervous and
look over their shoulder every five minutes.
These people are telling them not to worry about
anything God says or does!
They are telling them that they can do whatever they
want to, and God will not send them judgment or retribution.
They are not telling them that He will send against
them lying spirits that will destroy them because they
continue to refuse the truth!
God has done it, and He continues to do it to this
hour. This is why
the church world is in such a terrible shape; having not the
fear of God in their lives, they are open to curses.
I said the church is cursed with a curse and they
cannot be healed unless they turn to the living God.
They must not turn to Him in form, ritual, or setting
up of idols (men who will tell them things they want to hear,
having itching ears).
Rather, they must turn to the truth of the Word of the
Lord.
I heard another preacher say that the manifestation of
the power of God is not evidence that you’re saved or evidence
that you believe.
However, Jesus Christ said in Mark 16:15-18, “And he said unto
them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every
creature. He that
believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that
believeth not shall be damned.
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my
name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new
tongues; They
shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it
shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and
they shall recover.”
Jesus had told them to tarry in Jerusalem until they be
endued with power from on high.
Quit seeking after preachers that can comfort you in
your sin, melancholy, in your backslidings, or in what you
want to hear; start finding out the truth.
Wouldn’t you rather know the truth now than on judgment
day when you will be cast into hell because you listened to a
lying preacher?
There is no fear of God in His people!
The Bible declares in Proverbs 1:7, “The fear of the
LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom
and instruction.”
If you’re not interested in having knowledge of God, then God
says you are a fool.
Fools despise wisdom and instruction out of God’s Word.
Proverbs 13:18 says, “Poverty and shame shall be to him
that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall
be honoured.”
Poverty and shame will come to you as a curse if you refuse
instruction.
God has declared in his Word that he is to be feared.
He even set up priests and teachers in days gone by (it
is in His Word) that taught the people the fear of the Lord.
However, today ministers and church groups are teaching
people not to fear God, but rather to go on gimmickry, game
playing, and other things, and saying that they’ll prosper
before the Lord.
That’s not what the Bible teaches.
That is not of the power and the Spirit that wrote the
Holy Ghost inspired Word of God.
It is a form and a ritual.
Jesus gave us great counsel when he said in Luke 12:4-5
not to fear men that can only kill the body, but him that
after he has killed the body can also cast into hell.
Jesus gave us a command out of his own mouth to fear
God. When you
fear God you’re going to obey God!
Many people say, Well, that’s not real love, but
Jesus said when you obey his commandments, you’re showing your
love to him (see John 14:15).
God will even count it unto us for righteousness if we
believe him, fear him, and obey him.
In Deuteronomy, Chapter 28, God is not talking to
sinners. He gave
His law to His people.
Why would He give His blessing or anointing to sinners?
When you see a reference in the Bible to God’s people,
or the children of Israel,
or the church in the wilderness, it is talking about the
people of God.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All scripture is given by
inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.
That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly
furnished unto all good works.”
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Malachi 3:6 says, “For I am the LORD, I change not. . .
.” Therefore,
know that Deuteronomy is just as applicable today as Matthew,
Mark, Luke and John.
Deuteronomy 28:15 says, “But it shall come to pass, if
thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to
observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I
command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon
thee, and overtake thee:” He isn’t talking to sinners; He’s
talking to you and me.
He is talking to anyone who has the law of God and is
given the blessing, power, and the blood of Jesus in their
life, and yet they will not follow God.
He said all these curses shall come upon you and
overtake you.
Verse 16-17 says, “Cursed shalt thou be in the city,
and cursed shalt thou be in the field.
Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store.”
What you’ve laid up in store will be eaten up.
Verse 18 says, “Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body,
and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the
flocks of thy sheep.”
The fruit of your body is your children; they’ll be
cursed right along with you.
Are you having trouble making ends meet?
Are you not having a good yield on your crop, or your
cattle or livestock?
Are you having problems in your investments?
The Bible declares you’re cursed.
Verse 19 says, “Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest
in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.”
You had better listen.
Verse 20 says, “The LORD shall send upon thee cursing,
vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto
for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish
quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou
hast forsaken me.”
He was talking to people that listened to God in the
beginning, but they forsook God.
I believe the church world has forsaken God.
They don’t fear God, and the curses have come upon
them. They don’t
know why, so they decide that healing is not for today.
They work up a religion, a doctrine, and a denomination
that says you don’t have to have healing and that you can die
cursed and go to heaven.
There’s no Bible for that.
You had better start looking in the Word of God and
find out why these things are happening!
Verse 28 says, “The LORD shall smite thee with madness,
and blindness, and astonishment of heart:”
Madness means you’ll have mental trouble.
There are more people suffering from mental disorders
today than there are from cancer, heart attacks, and deaths
from automobiles all put together.
2 Timothy 1:7, “For God hath not given us the spirit of
fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
If you’re having mental troubles, you don’t have a
sound mind. If
you don’t have a sound mind, it could be that God has smitten
you with madness, the beginning of your destruction.
You’d better repent, and turn away from your
wickedness, and come to God.
Forget what the preacher says if he’s lying to you.
If what he says is contrary to God’s word, no matter
how big his reputation is or how many tithes you’ve given to
his ministry, you had better forsake him and go to God.
The Bible is your source of truth.
The Bible declares in Deuteronomy 28:29-30, “And thou
shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and
thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only
oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee.
Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie
with her: thou shalt build an house, and thou shalt not dwell
therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not gather the
grapes thereof.”
Verse 30 said, “. . . thou shalt build an house, and
thou shalt not dwell therein. . . .”
Many go into bankruptcy and can’t pay their bills.
They are building new houses and can’t pay for them.
It could be that you’re cursed because you are not
serving God. The
end of Verse 30 says, “. . . Thou shalt plant a vineyard, and
shalt not gather the grapes thereof.”
Farmers are having trouble getting their crops out.
Some of the crops are being covered by flood, some are
being destroyed by drought, and some of those fields are side
by side.
The Bible declares also in Verse 34, “So that thou
shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt
see.” It says
you’ll go mad for all the things you’ll see.
Look at Verse 32, “Thy sons and thy daughters shall be
given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail
with longing for them all the day long: and there shall be no
might in thine hand.”
People’s children are being abducted right and left all
across this nation.
They’re being lost, destroyed, taken away, or given
over to witchcraft rituals to be killed unto Satan because
people are not raising them for God.
Because they’re not raising their children for God,
many times the Devil is allowed to destroy them, lest they
grow up and be the same as their parents.
I’m not trying to hurt you today or be mean.
I’m trying to tell you why these things happen, and
that you need to turn to the Lord.
Jesus himself said in Mark 1:15, “. . . The time is
fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe
the gospel.
If you don’t believe the Word of Truth about why these
things are happening to you, then you don’t believe the
gospel. You are
not able then to repent and get your children to come home, to
get your house in order, to get your wife or husband back, or
to get your children lined up with God, or to get your church
right. God have
mercy on a people that don’t fear the Lord!
Deuteronomy 28:45 says, “Moreover all these curses
shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake
thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not
unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments
and his statutes which he commanded thee:”
Why will you be destroyed?
“. . . because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of
the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes
which he commanded thee:”
That’s what God’s Word says.
Verse 48 says, “Therefore shalt thou serve thine
enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and
in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he
shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have
destroyed thee.”
God will destroy you because you won’t hearken to him.
Finally in Verse 63 it says, “And it shall come to
pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and
to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy
you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from
off the land whither thou goest to possess it.”
God will rejoice over you to destroy you if you will
not follow Him and fear Him.
Today, repent and believe the gospel.
Come to God.
Jesus declares in Matthew 24:35, “Heaven and earth
shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
It’s still true today.
I pray that God our Father will deliver every soul this
day, and set every captive free that has spurned His Word.
I pray He sets free all who have turned their backs on
God and are now suffering the horrible consequences of the
curse of God. I
pray that God deliver this nation, the church world, and as
many as will hear, in the name of Jesus.
Amen.
