THE KEY OF DAVID
Preface
(worship opens the door)
Jesus said in Matthew 16:19,
“And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of
heaven. . . .”
It takes the
key of David to open that door to the kingdom of heaven, and
it takes the key of David to shut it. It is open to men who
really want God, and it is shut in the face of the devil and
all who try to deceive or manipulate the Word of God.
Let’s worship
God, because that is how you get into the Spirit. 2
Corinthians 3:17 says, “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and
where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
God is
awesome. He can take the feeblest man and turn him into
something special if he will lay down all his own ways and
devices and yield to God. Be thankful for what God has done
and worship Him for He is worthy. Worship is the key.
KEY OF DAVID
by Pastor Kevin Badgley
You can live
in God’s anointing 24 hours a day! Jeremiah 33:3 says,
“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great
and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”
Jesus said in
Matthew 16:19, “And I will give unto thee the keys of the
kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on
earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt
loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
In John 10:9
Jesus said, “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he
shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.”
Get in Christ and you can go in and out of the natural realm
into the spiritual realm. That is exactly what He meant.
You can get so much so with the Lord that you can become a
pillar in the house of God and go no more out (see
Revelation 3:12). He said He will give us the keys of the
kingdom of heaven.
Matthew
12:22-23 says, “Then was brought unto him one possessed with
a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that
the blind and dumb both spake and saw. And all the people
were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?”
They brought
to Jesus the devil possessed person, and He delivered them.
The people could not understand the concept of the Christ,
the Son of God. However, they understood the concept of the
“Son of David”. The blind man cried out to Jesus, the Son
of David. The people had been taught for hundreds of years
that Christ would be of the seed of David.
When they saw
the miracle, they called Jesus the Son of David, not the Son
of God. They did not understand that He was the Son of God
and that they could become the sons of God. John
1:12 says, “But as many as received him, to them gave he
power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe
on his name:”
First you
receive Jesus; you get saved. Then you get power to become
a son of God. Whatever the Son of God did, the sons of God
can do. John 14:12 says, “Verily, verily, I say unto you,
He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do
also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go
unto my Father.”
Revelation
5:4-5 says, “And I wept much, because no man was found
worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look
thereon. And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not:
behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David,
hath prevailed. . . .” That is Jesus.
Revelation
22:16 says, “I Jesus . . . am the root and the offspring of
David, and the bright and morning star.” Jesus was with God
when He created the world (see Genesis 1:26). He is the
offspring of David because He became flesh so he could save
us from sin (John 1:14 & Romans 3:25), and he came through
his lineage.
Revelation
1:5 says, “. . . Jesus Christ, who is the faithful
witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the
prince of the kings of the earth. . . .” He is
the prince of all the kings of the earth in the natural
realm and in the spiritual realm. He is PRINCE over all
kings, and He can bring up one and put down another.
Revelation
3:7 says, “. . . These things saith he that is holy, he that
is true, he that hath the key of David, he that
openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man
openeth;”
Revelation
3:8 says, “I know thy works: behold, I have set before
thee an open door, and no man can shut it. . . .”
It takes the
key of David to open that door to the kingdom of heaven, and
it takes the key of David to shut it. It is open to men who
really want God, and it is shut in the face of the devil and
all who try to deceive or manipulate the Word of God.
David was a
prophet and a king, and because he was in the presence of
the Lord, he was also a priest like Jesus. Acts 2:25 says,
“For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord
always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I
should not be moved:” In other words, I saw a time where
the Lord would always be with me, in my sight, in my reach,
in my grasp for every need, because he is at my right hand.
David
could enter into the presence of the Lord through praise,
thanksgiving, and worship. That is the Key of David.
Yes, other things will be going on, but every time John saw
God do something in heaven, the twenty-four elders, the
beasts, and the angels fell down at His feet and worshipped
Him. Praise and worship was always going on. God was being
glorified, because God created all things for His pleasure.
Worship gives
God pleasure. John 4:23-24 says, “But the hour cometh, and
now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the
Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such
to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him
must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
This was not
possible under the old covenant for the common man, unless
he was elected of God as a prophet to be anointed by His
Spirit. Jesus broke the barrier between God the Spirit, and
man the carnal. Jesus made the way, and He tells us that we
have the key to get in there!
Jesus taught
us to praise as He first taught us to pray. (See Matthew
6:6-13 and Luke 11:1-4.) Many people are filled with the
Holy Ghost and the power of God to become sons of God like
Jesus - under the anointing of praise.
Psalm 100:4
says, “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his
courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his
name.” As you enter into his gates with thanksgiving you
are in the outer edge, the outer court. You enter into the
second court with praise. You enter into the veil with
worship.
It is a
breaking down of the natural man. One of the biggest wars
you fight is trying to step out of the natural and go into
the Spirit and worship God. People worry about what others
think.
David danced
before the Lord, and his wife tried to make him ashamed of
what he did. That is one time God hit a woman. God is no
respecter of persons. Michal attacked his worship, and God
killed her ability to make any more like her. Later on she
adopted some of her orphaned relatives so she could raise
them, but later on God killed them. There is the good
Spirit of God, and there is the evil spirit of the devil.
You choose which one you listen to.
David
appointed singers and musicians. He praised the Lord as a
little boy out watching the sheep. He killed a lion and a
bear to protect the sheep. All nations feared David after
he became king. He was also the most glorious worshipper of
God. You could not stand in the presence of David and call
him effeminate. His sword was the one he took from a
Philistine giant named Goliath. He took the devil’s
weaponry and started using it against him. Goliath was
approximately 10 feet tall, so figure how big his sword
was! Because God stood at his right hand, David was able to
swing it all of his life, and he was the size of a regular
man. God started him out with a pebble. Then God had him
take away the sword of the enemy.
Lucifer used
to walk as one of the arch angels in heaven. He sinned and
preached blasphemy against God, and God threw him out. God
is no respecter of persons. He saw iniquity in him, and no
place was found for him.
Jesus said in
John 14:2, “. . . I go to prepare a place for you.”
Everything the devil used to walk in, God gave to David and
to us. Where the devil used to praise, I can praise. No
wonder the devil fights the way he does. That does not mean
we lose our ability to choose. David took Bathsheba. That
was sin, and he paid for it, but he prayed through in Psalm
51. He still had trouble in his family, but his ministry
was kept. You don’t turn into a God. You have free will,
and you can botch things, but you don’t have to botch it.
There are
keys to the kingdom of heaven, and God said in Psalm 84:11,
“. . . the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing
will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” Don’t
listen to the howl of the flesh, and the world, and the
devil trying to drown out the cry of the Spirit in your soul
that says, I must have Jesus.
David prayed
before every battle! God answered him what to do and how to
do it. In 2 Samuel 5:23 David enquired of the LORD and the
Lord said, “Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind
them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.”
The Lord told David when he heard the sound of going in the
mulberry trees, then he was to go. That would be the Lord
going before him to smite the Philistines.
For most of
us, the real battle is waiting on God and believing Him no
matter what goes on! We have to wait on God till He moves.
Isaiah 40:31 says, “But they that wait upon the LORD shall
renew their strength. . . .”
1 John 4:4
says, “. . . greater is he that is in you, than he that is
in the world.” David swung a sword at 86 and beyond. That
takes away every excuse we’ve got. We can’t say we are too
old, because at age 80 Moses’ natural force was not abated.
Romans 8:31 says, “. . . If God be for us, who can be
against us?”
Isaiah 54:17
says, “No weapon that is formed against thee shall
prosper. . . .”
David had a
key to get to God, because he was a man after God’s own
heart. 1 Corinthians 2:10 says, “. . . the Spirit
searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.” The
Holy Ghost in the believer has the answers we need, but
we have to get past carnality and a lack of faith. With God
all things are possible!
Galatians
5:16 says, “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye
shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” If you are to
enter into the presence of the Lord, you cannot sin. 1 John
3:9 says, “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for
his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he
is born of God.”
2 Samuel 7:
1-11 says, “And it came to pass, when the king sat in his
house, and the LORD had given him rest round about from all
his enemies; That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See
now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God
dwelleth within curtains. And Nathan said to the king, Go,
do all that is in thine heart; for the LORD is with thee.
And it came to pass that night, that the word of the LORD
came unto Nathan, saying, Go and tell my servant David, Thus
saith the LORD, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell
in? Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time
that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even
to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.
In all the places wherein I have walked with all the
children of Israel spake I a word with any of the tribes of
Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying,
Why build ye not me an house of cedar? Now therefore so
shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of
hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the
sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel: And I was
with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all
thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great
name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the
earth. Moreover I will appoint a place for my people
Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a
place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the
children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime,
And as since the time that I commanded judges to be over my
people Israel, and have caused thee to rest from all thine
enemies. Also the LORD telleth thee that he will make
thee an house.” Verse 16 says, “And thine house
and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before
thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.”
David thought
to build a house for God, but the Lord said He was going to
build David a house! He wasn’t talking about a natural
house. Look at the next three scriptures.
2 Corinthians
5:1 says, “For we know that if our earthly house of this
tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an
house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”
Jude 1:20
says, “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your
most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,”
1 Peter 2:5
says, “Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a
spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up
spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.”
There is
something about dying to the world and self that ushers us
into the spirit realm with God. There is something about
worshiping God. David found the key, and it made his throne
established forever.
The
unbelieving do not enter into the holy place of the kingdom
of God. Hebrews 3:18-19 says, “And to whom sware he that
they should not enter into his rest, but to them that
believed not? So we see that they could not enter in
because of unbelief.”
1 Peter 2:11
says, “Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and
pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the
soul;” We ought to be spiritual children, because we are
spiritually bought and paid for. We are spiritually raised
up, filled with the Holy Ghost and gifted.
2 Corinthians
5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new
creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are
become new.”
Ephesians
4:24 says, “And that ye put on the new man, which after God
is created in righteousness and true holiness.” If you are
saved, you have the new man, even though he fights and
struggles. The Holy Ghost is dealing with him, because He
won’t talk to the old man. The new man tells the old man to
be still.
Romans 6:16
says, “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves
servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye
obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto
righteousness?” If your tongue speaks like the devil, you
are his servant at that time. It is the same with the
hands, feet, and tongue.
We need to
call on God while we can. Isaiah 55:6 says, “Seek ye the
LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is
near:” See also Matthew 5:6 and James 4:8.
The key of
David shuts doors against the devil and opens doors to
heaven. Let’s worship God, because that is how you get into
the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:17 says, “Now the Lord is that
Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is
liberty.”
God is an
awesome God. He can take the feeblest man and turn him into
something special if he will lay down all his own ways and
devices and yield to God. Be thankful for what God has done
and worship Him for He is worthy. Worship is the key.
